Final Fantasy Franchise and 14 - (could be spoilers about EW)

Question I did play some 1.0 and 2.0 since beta so 14 is my only FF game. I have never made the time to try other ff games as this is a game I rather enjoy.

I do not have the FF history so the crossovers and nostalgia is lost on me as I wont have a frame of reference. I did the EQ 1/2 route to 14. But it does give me a very small insight into the other games (its on me for not playing others)

My question is for example in FF11 did we see roll up of crossovers of characters or jobs from previous games into 11. I see a lot of people were disappointed with somethings not appearing EW as they wanted e.g. a certain boss (sure cannot win them all).

I am quite interested to see 14 also being 14 as to introduce or try new things which could roll up to future games and maybe allow me to have sentiment for future games as some of you experience now.

There seems to be some passion from players when things aren't quite right e.g Summoner and I was wondering if there were some established cannon that shouldn't be trifled with?
