Shadowbringers? More like Talos Bringers... (Spoilers for Shadowbringers)

Don't worry i won't be as salty as i was with the title but there are some things that i would like to say and i am gonna say those things without trying to be negative or a blamer, its just some thought of mine that i would like to share cause it got me furious.

First of all, i know that this is a mmorpg and the amount of quests that they have to deliver is insane, there are tons of quests and ofcourse because of that there will be filler quests. But i think those ''filler'' quests could have been more enjoyable, fun and i don't know, less anoying maybe? I mean yeah some of them not even fillers they are just required to make the world feel more realistic and alive and also we know that almost every expansion until shadowbringers had them but one thing bothered me a lot with shadowbringers.

To me i was starting to understand the hype behind shadowbringers stroyline in the beginning, i mean, people were calling it the best story that final fantasy had for all of these years for heavens sake, but after titania everything started to go down hills. Specially that, ''amber hills'' questline was so boring i almost wanted to skip all of the cutscnes, okay i understand some of the choices they made with that storyline because of the reasons i just told but still, i felt like a i was playing a engineering simulator all the time.

Almost all of the questline was about building taloses, reparing taloses, making a taloses come alive, talos this, talos that. I literally hated that questline but i stick to it no matter what and then when we came back to the Eulmore i thought to my self, okay things will started to wrap up again, which it did until the point where we started to talk about taloses again. And we started doing this in the most exciting time in all shadowbringers which it was learning that Vauthry was a sin eater and a lightwarden, but then, after that satisfying reveal he flew and i had real good time with that storyline and i was ready to chase and hunt him down. But all of it got distrupted again with the building of yet another talos. At this point i really do feel like a talosbringer more then shadowbringer.

Being a engineer or a repair men of a talos, and taloses in general distrupts the story line way too much and way too more then it needs to be. It annoyed the hell out of me, just because of that for now it made me think like stormblood had a better storyline then shadowbringers, probably this will change by the end of it but right now i got so angry that they took all of my excitement about killing of Vauthry and started to make me interested with building a talos that i got so angry i couldn't help myself but opening an article. Almost half of the shadowbringer story that i came across till now was about taloses. Yeah like i said ofcourse there will be a filler quests but if fillers distrupts the story that much i think it needs to be stopped. And thats just my opinion

to avoid spoiling anything, while the early 33% of ShB is good, thats not why ppl praise ShB.
The final 5% is the only thing that matters. If you cut away the prior 95%, and only had a 1 hour game from the final 5%, it would still be famous.

Honestly I didn't mind all the Talos stuff. It was there for worldbuilding, and considering we were in an entirely different world that needed to be built from the ground up, I felt it was awesome.

Not every story beat needs to be "YOU ARE THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD AND WE GROVEL AT YOUR FEET." Sometimes it can be about the little things, and considering Talos' were a big part of Norvrandt's technology, it feels like a good thing to base little things off of... Just like how every other quest in the Source is something something Allagan technology.

Also, the Talos segment before Mt. Gulg was supposed to show how the WoD united the whole of Norvrandt against the Light and Vauthry; Even the fae, Eulmorians, and Viera came to help.

Hah! I absolutely love ShB and its story, heck, FFXIV in general, but the OP has a point. I have three alts and I've gone through MSQ without any mogstation skips on all of them -- as well as watched a couple of friends go through MSQ at their own pace. Ahm Araeng act II and the talos stuff is absolutely boring filler mcguffin pasta. I will not defend it and I can see it frustrating other people. Then, you do indeed get riled up to chase after Vauthry, Kholusia BGM changes to a high-pace theme, you feel the rush and then... Oh, you're gonna hear that BGM for a looong chunk of time while slow-chocobo running back and forth and building another talos.

I get it that there's a story point there -- showing how much can be done with the cooperation of everyone, but... I'm no story writer. Running back and forth doing these quests with "epic hype music" in the back just felt silly, and much more so when doing it again. Personally I'd much rather have that "hype" brought up once you were /actually/ just about to do the actual chasing or fighting.
