[6.0 spoiler] idea for a new healer class

Now that out of the way...

How cool would it be to have a healer that's in some way themed around dynamis? Note: Yeah, you might argue maybe, MAYBE lorewise some AST abilities might be implied to have a dynamis component. I'm talking about explicitly, though, and as the MSQ mentioned, effects arising from emotions doesn't automatically mean dynamis, either.

    So!

A dynamis healer... Could be an entelechy/empath, or maybe just more sort of a spiritual bard or... other ideas?

But the most depressing part about thinking about all this... it's knowing we're likely looking at a 6 year minimum wait before we get a new healer. Well, one can dream...

While I would absolutely love to see something like this I have my doubts that the dev team would be able to create a healer like this without it being either completely underwhelming or Overpowered. It would sit side by side with Ast as a buffer/healer I'd assume, and if Brd and Dnc are any indication they would gut one to make the other feel more relevant. Also, I feel like it would be hard to make another buffer healer that was able to do something different and meaningful without crippling it's job fantasy every expansion after it's release until it is a shell of it's former self.

Just look at Astro. When Astrologian was first released it was a Healer that focused on buffs from cards and time effects to help extend said buffs or stun "stop" enemies in their tracks. At this point it has been relegated to nothing more than a White Mage clone with a tedious card mini game with low return on investment. They have stripped all of the time related aspects of the job and dumbed down the cards so much that they don't even feel meaningful anymore. I couldn't even tell you if the job quest story line even makes sense anymore as the abilities that used to be there mostly no longer exist. The original Job Fantasy has been skewed to focus on the lowest common denominator.

This post is in no way a criticism of yours, as I wish they would add more flavorful options to jobs that made them stand out from each other, unfortunately as every expansion comes out the jobs become more and more "balanced" and homogenized. I understand the logic behind it, however it doesn't make the loss of interesting systems any less painful. It's like becoming invested in a character because of their personality and abilities, only to find out 2 seasons later they have had all of that personality completely reworked to "fit the story".

Dynamis healer would be weird considering Dynamis is a lore explanation for the limit break system.

Is there an actual source on this? I've seen it tossed around a lot but I haven't seen any actual evidence that it's anything but a fan theory/"fanon"/etc

That said, even if true, I don't see why it'd present an obstacle? The actual obstacles that I think would need to be dealt with is how an aether-based being like ourselves could manipulate dynamis in any controllable/useful way to begin with. Buuut, with 6.0 opening pandora's box on the subject, maybe there could be some story around developing tools and/or technology around it. Surely some researchers would be interested in this until-now little known force, and perhaps that could lead into one eventually developing some practical applications...

That Elephant lady from Thavnair when describing Akasha commented something along the lines of "surely you must've been in situations before where you broke the limit of your capabilities" (not exact wording) and in the final trial during the forced Tank LB3 moment the Boss goes "Dynamis?" after seeing we're not dead. I don't think this is a fan theory at all, it's very clear what the writing team is trying to tell us.

    Fair enough.

To the original point, then, even if it does power LBs, I wouldn't see why it'd need to be mutually exclusive with all other uses. More subtle control as we gain more understanding of the forces/energy at work could easily be the next logical step.

The Endsinger goes "Dynamis..?" when you use your tank LB3. It's fairly clear.

Someone just proposed a job concept in another thread with a Toli shaman mirror as the weapon concept. This seems like a really good fit for it.
