Any job you have a love/hate relationship with?

I typically always main healers in MMORPGs. Max level of every healer, and sometimes multiple times in WoW before I quit.

Ive at least dabbled in every healer in XIV at this point now.

Scholar. OMG I love the way this job plays. It fits my play style well, it feels powerful, I enjoy the aether flow and it works well on controller for me.

But their glamour, is just awful, their weapon (a book) and job identity/lore...what is going on with this part of it? What even am I? What is a "scholar" just a student? I thought scholars were like doctors but sage ability names seem to give the surgeon role to them.

Anyway, is their a job that you love the playstyle but dislike the fantasy of the job or vice versa?

White Mage.

I nearly always play support classes in RPGs, and always in MMOs. I like the wizard staff aesthetic, elemental blasts, powerful restorative spells, all that stuff really draws me.

It's a shame the job is a zero-depth boring spammy snorefest. You draw me in with this promise of an arcane powerhouse, and all the flexibility and infinite universe-bending possibility implied by sorcery... and you give me a class that spams one sparkleblast. Over and over and over. With like 5 healing buttons that do the same thing and don't reward brain activity in the slightest. That you use in between casting the single sparkleblast. And casting the sparkleblast. And casting the sparkleblast. And casting the sparkleblast. And casting the sparkleblast.

- Paladin: My main job; I love its Holy Knight vibe, theme, abilities & able to help myself & others through clemency.

- White Mage: 2nd main job; very straightforward, it has that “graceful” vibe & calming.

- Dancer; can’t be bothered & seriously I feel like being on a musical Teathre disney performance.

- Red Mage; shouldn’t it be called “Rez Mage? It gives me vertigo & just way overrated.

AST is the opposite of scholar to me.

I absolutely love the class fantasy of AST. The stars, the cards, the buffs, all of it. But its absolutely nuts to play, at least with a controller. I suck at it.

Love the gameplay, even though it's murder on my fingers, along with its general aestethics, but the Lore behind it doesn't really compel me. The job quests left me confused more than anything and I found myself far more interested in the Sharlayan politics aspect of it than the actual astrology bits.

Usually, if I'm not interested in the job fantasy I lose interest in the job as a whole but AST somehow managed to retain my attention. It's going to be my next lvl 90 job and go-to healer.

RDM - When it was first announced, I was ecstatic. After playing it, I quickly realized how boring it was and how plain the spell effects were.

Now, I haven't played EW RDM yet, so maybe my opinion will change.

It's a little better. More Jumping into and out of melee combo and brighter red lasers
