Anyone else having this issue?

I can't help but notice I seem to crash out of the game a lot lately, and it's becoming more than a little infuriating. My video drivers are all up to date and even uninstalled and reinstalled them to make sure; but nothing seems to work. At this point with the wait to even play I'm beginning to just call it a day after I crash out.

Anyone have any ideas for a possible solution? I never/rarely would have the game do this prior to the expansion's launch.

I had a problem a while back with the game not playing at all, just a black screen and then crash. Turned out the game uses Internet Explorer and you have to clear the cache and delete cookies when it won't launch. I don't know if that is the same problem you are having, but it can't hurt to try.

Yup. This was also something I experienced awhile back too. I was baffled as all my drivers and such were up to date, and I have a 2060 Super OC so I was dumbfounded what could've been wrong.

Turns out IE cookies and cache actually play a factor. Who knew?

I have never used IE since I use Chrome, but I can try and clear my cookies on that to see if it helps.

Did you try reinstalling the game?

I found an option in the launcher to see if that works. if not I might have to try a total reinstall. Good thing I have my hud backed up... hopefully.

Do you get any particular error codes on your screen, or does it simply kick you to the desktop? If you don't get any errors, do you know how to use the event viewer or extract minidump files?

Whether or not you use ie it's still installed, and xivs Launcher uses it. Lots of programs hook into ie for interfaces. It's weird.

Resetting it is a good step because it fixes weird issues. (you do that through the last tab of the internet options app)

Most operating systems have a UI control you can use in your applications for displaying HTML markup (and even loading resources over the network), and they often use the same engine as the 'built-in' web browser for the system, whatever that is. On MacOS and iOS, for instance, the 'web view' control you can use in your applications is powered by WebKit, same as Safari is.

It's just that on Windows, settings (and cache and such) relating to that standard HTML-viewer control are buried in a web browser that no one uses and most people forget still exists.

From what I've read from the technical forums, there's many reason for this issue.

I recently built my current system, but my old desktop has this issue. It was a combination of a failing GPU (artifacting) and a corrupted install. It was also an AMD card, which I hear crashes quite a bit for XIV.
Reinstalling may or may not alleviate your problems.
