PC Controller losing connection intermittently

I play on PC with an Xbox controller and have been having this weird issue since 6.0. I'll play normally and the controller will stop responding to inputs for a second every now and then. I've tried wired/wireless, changing controllers and the problem still persists. This only happens in FFXIV, no other games on my PC are giving me this issue. Any ideas what is causing this?

I've had issues with Steam in the background causing my controller to switch input types. I don't play XIV on Steam but merely having Steam open at all has caused it.

Otherwise, every now and then in the FFXIV settings, it will swap from XBOX One Controller to XBOX 360 Controller under the settings menu and cause my controller to cut out. Swapping it back fixes it. No idea why it does this, thankfully it's not often.

Having the same issue with the PS5 controller with 6.0 being when it started. I don’t play through Steam but it seems that FF14 and Steam are occasionally fighting to take control of the controller.

I don't have Steam or the Game Pass PC app opened when I play FFXIV on PC, and I use the client, not the Steam version. Hopefully, this is something that gets fixed in 6.01.

Also having these problems, but I do play through steam with a PS4 controller. I used to have a dc sometimes before but never this occasionally since the launch of 6.0, it's very hard to play this way.

my ps5 controller also does this and its very annoying when it happens in the middle of something important...

i cant simply not use steam either because i have the steam version of the game

My controller also does this. It's annoying and only started doing it with 6.0. I have tried the "disable Microsoft Root Emulator" fix that I googled to no avail. I own the game on steam and don't want to have to restart to troubleshoot this. If anybody has a fix, please by all means, I am all ears.

Same as above issue;
Playing with the stand alone non-steam version of the game using Xbox controller and have tried several different types (Wired, wireless, Xbox 360, Xbox one and Xbox series x versions)
the Microsoft Root Emulator fix hasn't worked and since the last two updates it has gotten progressively worse.
Currently my controller drops on average once every 5-20 minutes and takes about 30-60 second to reconnect.

Well I found the solution to my problem and the same might be associated with others as well. For some reason, (I still don't know the EXACT reason), Device Manager kept refreshing about once per minute. I figured this was a default "failed attempt" and was retrying to connect to something. My "temporary fix" was to disable "SSDP Discovery" and "UPnP Device Host" in the Services app in "ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools". I also disabled the recovery as that was the underlying issue plaguing Device Manager. To do this just find the two things in services, right click, properties, and disable under "Startup" on the first tab, and disable the recovery options in the "Recovery" tab

This completely disables plug n play so you may want to keep that in mind for the future

EDIT: Alright so I went to sleep last night and when I woke up, it started doing it again. One app that I disabled last night was McAfee Web Services but for some reason, it was running and re-enabled the recovery options (on it's own). I disabled them and stopped the app and all seems fine again.

I am having this same exact issue in FF7 Integrade on PC.
