If you want any chance of SE taking action to stop AFK botting, post in this thread

This is the last thread I'm making on the topic. I have already made several about it. After this it's out of my hands, but I'll keep the thread alive and on the front page if others will.

If you think SE needs to do *something* about people using third party tools / macros to stay logged into the game the entire day, then please post in this thread. Post it in repeatedly, every day, until we get an official response, or the issue is otherwise resolved. This is pretty much the only method that has any chance of actually reaching SE ears.



If the thread dies, I'm done.

And what means do you suppose SE can go about solving this issue? How do you think the game client can go about detecting other software running on the computer, if not by literally injecting spyware in to the game so they can see a script pressing spacebar.

A solution already exists, and that's reporting suspecting players. I for one am not in favor of SE invading our privacy to maybe have a chance at detecting anything.

Why stop there? I encountered at least a dozen gathering bots yesterday for aethersands. Not RMT bots, mind you, but "legit" players with free companies, level 90s, and search comments.

Totally not suspicious when they follow the exact same pathing and are gathering for 18 hours straight.

How would you know if they are gathering bots? Also i tend to follow the same path when gathering its easy to zone out and put ur self on auto pilot.

There easy to spot you will see them gathering and moving with a afk symbol above there head.

You can follow a path that's close to the same, but not exactly the same like bots do.

If there are multiple people botting the same set of nodes, it's painfully obvious as they'll form a conga line.

They also just have a really awkward pattern of behavior with a noticeable, but consistent delay between actions like mounting up, then taking flight after gathering at a node. At the core a bot is basically just a really long, complicated macro and by necessity they have delays between their actions to avoid hiccups as things like latency can otherwise cause them to get locked into a loop.
