I did MSQ all the way to 90 and only do aether currents when its close. You will need a few DR because I don't have enough XP for Lv87 and Lv88 to continue MSQ. Did not bother doing Fates unless it is close as well.

Grinding FATEs for rewards has been a bad idea since SHB, since as we can see, it's leading to the opposite of what the devs intended. They wanted to make it so that someone like you might have a chance to clear FATEs that would otherwise be ignored. So they put toys on them and now everyone rushes to clear them and you get left out because you physically cannot make it there in time. Just bad design.I'm not super far into endwalker yet (lvl 82). I've been trying to get the 6 gold ratings from fates for faster mount speed. However, its nearly impossible to do this. Every fate that spawns has a legion of players fly in within 30 seconds and finish it in another 45 seconds. Basically, unless a fate spawns very close to me and I immediately notice, I won't be able to participate.

Just buy the pay to win fenrir bike lol. No, but you can shout in the zone asking for a fate party. People will probably invite you. Honestly though, just do the MSQ because like 2 zones you cant even fly in until later on in the MSQ.

I don't think rest EXP matter that much since there is very little combat content. And since you only run each dungeon once it's hardly matter.
When I did my main the first time, I hit like level 90 druing lvl88 story contents. Granted I did do a couple PVP daily, but I didn't touch the class quest line at all (which I think worth about half a level by itself).
With that knowledge in hand I'm playing through my alt with no addition EXP injection from DF. I use the daily roulettes to level a 2nd class in parallel instead and I'm still ahead of the content. Right I'm almost lvl88, and about to hit the lvl87 dungeon. And again this is purely from MSQ exp, the only side quests I'm doing is for fly map and the class quests.
You could ask to join a party and have someone fly you around with a 2-seat mount.I'm not super far into endwalker yet (lvl 82). This is absolutely false. Why would you do fate when you don't have fly yet? The game is clearly designed for Fate to be used after you finish the story and start lvling your alt class.
- Some zones (like Labythros) is clearly not designed to quickly moved around on foot, also even if the zones are continuous, they are all massive.
- Fate give pitiful amount of EXP without the amoury bonus, which you won't have on your first class.
- The MSQ give enough EXP to get your job to 80 without ever doing a single FATE.
All of this combine means if you're trying to do FATE on your first class ... you are playing it ... the way it's not meant to be. I avoided saying you're playing it's wrong since it your game, play however you like. But do note the fact you would be playing against the design, so inconvenience should not come as a surprise.
You can buy a riding map after getting to rank 2 on fates. The only time you need this map to increase your ground mount speed is when you can't fly. So it is clearly intended for first MSQ runners.
Unlocking faster mount speed is not worth it, since it doesn't apply to flying mounts.
I'd recommend just enjoying the MSQ, unlocking flight and doing Fates after 90 if you want to level alts.

Ah, FATE mount speed then*. Unnecessary for leveling, you don't really need to worry about it. Do FATEs if you can, like if you happen to be in the area. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter. On my first go through, I didn't get 6 FATEs done in the last zone, and it wasn't an issue. You can do it later. I was able to get 6 FATEs completed on all the other zones, but I also play in the middle of the night. A less crowded instance would make it easier to make it to a FATE in time.

Feels like people are overlooking why the OP wants to be able to do the FATEs at 82 and are failing to provide information that might be useful to him.
The riding maps only affect ground speed. They do not affect flying speed. That means the maps are only useful for the relatively few hours you spend in a zone before you complete the zone MSQ and get flying unlocked. If you take into account the time spent farming FATEs so you can buy the map versus the small amount of time the speed increase will save you (since most of your time is spent watching cutscenes/reading dialog), you haven't gained anything.
If you still feel like you'd prefer to have the maps for the short term speed benefit, try asking in shout for an invite to a FATE farming party that has someone who would fly you around. A lot of players put off unlocking flying even while doing MSQ so there's usually someone who has that's nice enough to help.
