I mean they did say Endwalker would close out a storyline going all the way back to the start of FF14. I doubt they understood just how accurate this statement would be.
Yes, this exactly. I empathize with people who have had more severe problems than me and haven't really been able to play. That sucks. But if you're going to sit here and demonize the dev team and say they don't care and aren't doing anything, then I'm going to antagonize and push back on you. I hope this update is enough to silence all that sort of nonsense, but... somehow, I think they'll find a way to power through and keep it up.I was just as astonished that random packet monitoring guy found something they didn't. Perhaps it's something the trench coders thought wasn't worth the attention it'd take to fix since it only was at (previously) unimaginable server loads so they never passed it up the pipeline.... or more likely whomever knew about that particular problem is long gone. Either way it shows a couple things: SE is paying attention to us (EN players), like it or not and while they're very much on top of mitigating problems as much as possible they can miss things.
I hope more useful information comes out of the discussion though, and less accusatory misinformed BS.
A few things. I think this addressed a huge chunk of problems. But it also shows the constant pressure and who knows how many cancelled subs are making them act.
Finally for the chip shortage people. July is when he said they started plans for more. That means zero growth planned for EU/NA over two years. They literally waited till WoW imploded. You don't get a cookie for doing the right thing after you should have done it. We should have had a couple new worlds. Which would mean nothing with WoW imploding. But would show so much more trust and basic commitment to QoL for players. Now it sounds like whole new data centres.
Well, since I'm getting 21 days of game time and I got to play the game, I'm going to... use this.... as justification..... to buy a treat from the Mogstation >_> yeah. <_<
Pretty cool and transparent and nice to see they appear to have identified the log in error issue. Lets hope when implemented it actually works for everyone. 21 days of free time and I've been lucky enough to be playing each and everyday since launch.
Yeah, I'd rather if they were going to give game time, they give us a full month so it lines up better with what I have scheduled. Maybe the issues will persist and they will do so anyway?

I think its more an admission of very upper management they were wrong. What's really wild with the suspending sales/advertising is... they may very likely have no solid idea how long they'll have to be suspended. Maybe they're hoping, like the rest of us, that things calm down quickly enough that they can resume sales by the end of the year or something. But, they could seriously be looking at waiting until they've got new hardware...
That is grim. I mean, I know they won't necessarily be suffering for it. But, that's definitely an admission of defeat, that they can't keep up.
digital keys do not have to be produced, so can "stock" billions.
I imagine they had a planning meeting to set a cap on those keys way back, maybe 2020, on how many copies they could sell and not have what happened, happen. Yoshi and the server team was overruled when they ran out of keys and kept selling more. my guess is that some suit far higher up said, sell more, we can cope...
if nothing else, next time maybe they'll listen to Yoshi and the server team and abide by whatever caps they set.
I felt his soul in his post. It's not the usual happy Yoshi P. It's a beat up version of him. I really feel bad even if it was someone else translating for him, you could still feel it in the writing. I hope he's okay and I hope he's not smoking more than usual (I hate that he smokes, he's such an amazing guy to be smoking). Smoking and stress is a deadly combination. PLEASE YOSHI P. we understand, it's out of your control and you're doing great for the things you have control over. Transparency is what I love most about these types of posts. Rarely are devs transparent especially on things that are going wrong. So thank you!
as always, someones going to complain... even if they offered you free sub for life, you would find a way to turn that into a negative.A few things. I think this addressed a huge chunk of problems. But it also shows the constant pressure and who knows how many cancelled subs are making them act.

how exactly, do you imagine they should have known WoW was going to implode? they had been planning the OCE data center first, and expansions on others may have been on a roadmap, but in JULY they had to accelerate that because of the growth. if they had been as uncommited as you seem to believe, they wouldnt bother... period.. because the trend is for populations to go down.. they could have said yup.. there's a queue, but I can log in from Japan just fine, so, why do we need any servers?
....and this is why they are loved.
No other developer or publisher would have done any of what they have, kept communication going, given any free time much less nearly a month now, or taken fault for anything.
None.
