Your mentioning students reminded me of something that happened some years ago. The students at a university were (reasonably) unhappy with tuition fees going up. At the same time, they were also very unhappy that a staff member in charge of those financials was being removed from his position for not reasonably performing that job over many years. That is beyond stupid lol. Note, this guy was making several hundreds of thousands of dollars per year and where he was placed paid him just slightly less lol. There were more things students were crying about, including pay raises for faculty, but they clearly don't understand how money works if their ultimate goal is not making tuition fees go up.
