Gathering log won't close

I've been playing this game for years and this is the first time this has happened. I opened the gathering by searching the gathering method for darksteel ore and when I pushed R1 to change pages, my controller froze. After pushing some more buttons I found out it wasn't froze I just couldn't push O to close the gathering log window.

The circle button definitely works because I can open other windows on top of it and close those out but not this gathering log. I even used the virtual mouse to try and close it by hitting the X in the corner. Teleporting didn't fix it. Doing a duty didn't fix it and I couldn't even fight. I can't open the main menu because the start button won't doing anything.

So now I just closed the game entirely and am waiting in a 4000 queue. If I get back in the game and the gathering log window is still there what can I do?

Does this only happen to one character or all characters?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game from scratch?

This also happened for me. It might be because I tried searching for an item that my Botanist can't gather yet. But the window locked up and I'm unable to close or otherwise affect it other than dragging it around. I can open other windows and such. I play on PC (not Steam).
