Steam Ad on loading screen

Anyone know a way to convince the game to stop displaying that loading screen Steam advertisement? Maybe get it to take a hint and notice that Steam is not installed on the computer whose loading screen features ad? Tia.

Do you, by any chance, own a Steam key of the base game? Because it sounds like you do and soon you will be required to run Steam to run the game ( soon )... so get ready to install it.

Interesting heads up. I don't have Steam anything; my account, now that I've read the linked FFXiV announcement, appears to be a "Stand_Alone" PC license/account. Good. Hopefully this means never having Steam babies.

That aside, I'm mildly curious about who is paying whom to get Steam into FFXiV.. or is it the other way around?

Intriguing question. I looked at the launcher's initial GUI. It says.. "FINAL FANTASY XIV 2021.11.16.0000.0001 (7089060) -3.0.0" - I assume that mouthful is the what kind, that it is.

One can but wonder if the reason I see the Steam advertisement is absolutely all about the game's knowledge (or S.E.'s), if any, that I'm not a Steam user, or Steam account participant. If the ad is there precisely because of this idea... it's gotten beyond pushy, and is brushing up against privacy.

I just checked on my system the Windows PC version of the Launcher (in both old and new UI formats) and the loading screens in game.
I see no "Steam" anywhere, except the launcher link to the article about the Steam Version Linking in the news Topics section:
"* 02/09/2022 Introducing Steam Version Account Linking" which click opens the FF14 website to that Topic.
I do not have any Steam software on PC nor have any Steam accounts, and I have never seen any sort of advertising in the game loading screens, ever.

I have a screen shot now, but no clue how to post it. Using the search tool on the forums is a disaster.. "how to post screenshots" returns hundreds of results which appear useless. If someone has a simple bullet-proof method for doing this, I'll publish the puppy.

Never mind, found it. It was some kind of fool thing Discord does.."enable game overlay" Switching 'overlay' off in Discord cleared it off the FFXiV launch screen. Thanks all for the pointers.

Well, I see you figured out the Steam issue, but for future "posting an image":

• Use a Image Hosting website, like Imgur ( https://imgur.com/ )
• Upload the image on their site, just drag the image file and drop it on the webpage to make it easy.
• Copy the link it generates to that image's webpage or copy the direct link to the image.
• Post the link in your message here via the Insert Link icon above the window you type the message in or if you copy the direct link to the image, use the Insert Image icon.
