I haven't had it fly off on it's own while perched, but it will fly off your shoulder and feed if you /handover it while perched.

Follow up:
While doing some extended crafting sessions, it will after many minutes fly off your shoulder on it's own.
It will also eventually perch again on it's own.
All random it seems.

Just mini rant but I'm very frustrated with this minion drop. I've done this dungeon 50+ times and I haven't even seen it drop once. I've even done it with trusts and I keep getting the Orchestral Rolls.... I'm tired. I just really wished they did something else for this minion or at least made it so it was easier to get.

Yeah they've really gone hard on the market restrictions. You can't trade the orchestrion rolls from gem favor so you NEED to do almost 400 fates to get the Sharlayan theme.

I suppose that as time went on they would've gotten to be ~500 gil a piece anyway (look at the minions/orchestrion rolls from ShB), but I think I'd prefer that over locked drops.

Starbird specifically states that it is not Meteion in it's description so i wouldn't treat it like the various midgardsormrs

I think a lot of the dungeon minions being unsellable was to promote more use of trusts for some reason. The ones that are salable didn't even maintain value for a week so probably a good idea for motivating rare hunters. being the only one in a 90 dungeon does make it a little extra painful since you can't level while hunting

More proof we live in the age of instant gratification ... this Dng isn't going anywhere, I see that the OP finally got it but yeah, you can just run things in moderation. They do this to give incentives to re-run content.

First off, "people playing the game" is the end goal ... regardless of if they que with a random party or not.
2nd, you can ask people in your FC if they're willing to run it once or twice to help you get it. Not everyone cares about minions, and some people will help you just to be nice or because they want Daily Tomes. You don't have to go balls-to-the-walz hard to get it just this second.

That's just my advice. I farmed it because I wanted to practice 90 jobs myself.

People are allowed to headcanon and roleplay how they want. I will always see it as bringing her on adventures with me now.

68 runs, 10 of which were with friends, and the rest with trusts. 11 orchestrion rolls and finally the bird on the 68th run. Good thing WAR is unstoppable so I could cut the trust runs down to 20-22 minutes. I did fantasia from Bunny girl to meaty Roe man after the 55th run so maybe that turned my luck around!

There's wanting instant gratification, and then there's pining for the sweet release of death and lemme tell you, for an expac about keeping hope alive; I was absolutely despairing and about to blaspheme!

Still not as bad as the Al-Iklil grind though, because I wasn't waiting an hour between dungeon runs, but at least that had the alternative of waiting to do duels instead. hopefully they'll give it the same treatment as the Unique and unstradable Nier Minions in future; Make it a guaranteed drop and can only roll on it if not owned/possessed, because I don't wish anyone to drone through 58 trust runs like I did...

Yeah I want it but I'm honestly not gonna bother farming it. I don't mind grinding for neat things on occasion, but I also don't really like doing 4 mans much in this game to begin with and I'm not terribly interested in farming this one when it could take dozens of runs lmao. Cause for something untradeable I'd definitely be doing it with trusts and that is just too much of a time commitment

So you've never had three people who already had the minion you don't have lot against you just to sell it?

Or maybe you just weren't aware they had it already.
