    My 2 cents on queues

From the forums there are 2 sets of people who are standing out.
1 - People who defend Square/Enix no matter what
2 - People who are mad at the current queue times

Honestly I don't really get group 1. Square/Enix is multibillion dollar company. They saw the influx of players earlier this year, they saw the preorder numbers and yet released the game when they knew the servers couldn't handle it. Yes they knew, because they even warned people of the potential queue issues prior to launch: https://www.theverge.com/2021/11/30/...ded-wait-times

Yet they decided to go forward with this. This is just bad management. Also....

Remember they are a company, so bottom line is the main focus. My theory is that hey are probably hoping people will buy EW and hop off once they finish the story, therefore freeing up server space. This way they won't have to spend much on new servers or upgrades.

Yes they "gave" us 7 days, but we already bought the expansion. They already have our money. It's not unreasonable for a customer to want to use the product they bought, as it was intended. Since most of us have jobs, families and responsibilities, we do not have the luxury of waiting hours in a queue.

I would have rather they delayed the launch of EW, gave us a bit of content for SB and launched EW then they could offer more servers. At least I would be able to log in and play. ARR gave out a ton of regular content, well before Heavensward, so I know it's doable.

I really wish they would just roll back their servers to SB, apologize for this mess and then re release the expansion when they can handle it.

This is my rant. At least I offered a solution, but I know some people will defend Square/Enix, no matter what they do.

So I am not allowed to voice my own opinion? People should be vocal about this!

What's there more to discuss? SQEX needed more time to upgrade equipment. People can't handle basic time management so they can beat the queue earlier.

You're just looking for trouble at this point.

It doesn’t seem so. Honestly, I find the “wow I can’t believe you made another thread on this issue omg” posts to be far more annoying than people rightfully airing out their grievances.

I go to work at 6am, and go to bed at 10pm. The only time I have to play is between 8-10pm. I have work and a family, so I do not have the luxury of time, and I would assume many are also like me. So saying the problem is my time management isn't so. SE is totally at fault. They failed and they seemed to have rather just ask for forgiveness than do the right thing from the start. I about guarantee they will upgrade nothing. They will wait for people to quit, either by frustration or once they finish the expansion story. Thus saving them the time and money doing any upgrades. They probably don't want to get more servers because they know the population might drop after the EW main story, and this "success" is new to them and they want to ride it out and see what happens.

Looking at your join date, I assume you werent there for Stormblood. Something similar happened then (longish queues), but nowhere near as bad. So this isn't the first time they had to deal with this.

Anyway I just wanted to vent on the forums.

Side with SE or not, our queues are not getting any better.

You're entitled to your opinion...but...a new post on the exact same topic that everyone and their mother had already posted...? Why not just voice your opinion in a megathread so SE dont have to jump around from threads to threads to gather feedbacks? Keep forums organized not everyone who goes to the forums just to see a whole page of threads just talking about queue times. I understand you're mad at SE, but like what of other players who want to read about other threads than "queue times prog"? The forums is not just about giving feedback to SE, it's for the community to discuss other aspects of the game as well.

The most effective way to protest against SE is to just drop your sub, vote with your wallet, SE is a corporate they listen to the money, not just some forum complaints.

I mean, they told you, and apparently you bought it anyway. So if you knew it going into it, why complain now?

This is typically a good theory as no company wants to set up too many worlds and then immediately have to merge a bunch of them so they aren't empty. It's unlikely to be the case here though, and they've already offered you their reason, which I'm guessing you choose to disbelieve. I've noticed in the last day or so the queues seem to be a bit smaller. I do think it will get better just with time but not sure if the queues will actually go away until there are new servers. SE probably actually stands to lose more money by not having adequate servers than by buying them, so I don't really see what their motivation is to lie. I am sure that many people will cancel their subs with plans to come back when things have died down a bit, and I'd imagine there is some subset of people who will leave and never come back. If you have 2+ hour queues for a long period of time, you're simply going to lose subscribers, and that costs money.

I don't know why people on this forum struggle with how compensation works. The 7 days were compensation for lost time, not "7 free days during which you can't play". To be fair, I am starting to wonder if they actually intend to give any more compensation as they didn't address it in the update on the 11th, and I think they should, given that queues are still so long.

I mean, that's what you say given what you know now - if it had been delayed there would have been tons of complaints, most of them probably coming from the same group of people complaining now.

Yikes. Rolling back the servers is the one worst thing that SE could do that would make me, for one, extremely angry. You're talking about undoing the progress of a lot of players. That cure is much worse than the disease.

Typical forum etiquette would prefer that you express your opinion in an already extant thread if there is one. There are many to choose from, in this case.

The reason there was so much content in ARR is because a huge chunk of it was already designed and was meant for 1.0, but didn't get released. So all they had to do was adjust it for the changes and relaunch it rather than design it from the ground up. Expecting them to be able to put out brand new content at the same pace as pre-made content is a bit much. Especially when they are already working on 6.1. Nor would delaying it have done anything except hurt them even more. The first aspect would be the length of the delay would push it to next year and many country's consumer laws would require them to then refund all the copies of EW if it went into a new year. Then there is the fact that any content they had been designing was meant for EW, story written for EW, all based on EW, so they would have to start from scratch which would mean at least an additional three months of ShB content draught. So no, they shouldn't have delayed it until they were able to get server tech because in the long run it would have been even worse than the queues.

I don't understand people with your mindset at all.

Do you believe that the entire world has conspired with SE to brew up a false story about global chip shortages? I'm genuinely confused and asking here, what do you expect them to have done in the span of the 2 year long intense emiconductor chips shortage??? This is not a money issue even there is car manufacturers and hundreds of other industries losing billions and billions because of this shortage but you expect SE, a video game company to be still somehow magically make the parts appear?

Please, this goes to everyone, before you rant on the forums here or anywhere about how greedy SE does not want to spend money take 2 SECONDS and read up on the news about what's going on in the world, heck just read the wiki article on the ON-GOING CRISIS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020%E..._chip_shortage
