that's true... I think after 2.0 and all of the server restructuring, many of these threads are going to be pointlessThat's just their unique gimmick honestly, much like you do zero damage (or severely reduced damage) to a Catuare in FFXI when they have a shirling shield around them even though you can obviously connect your weapons to them despite the shield being present. Lullaby for example doesn't even last that long to be honest. Look at moles, even though you likely killed them before they burrow, they still didn't die simply because to the server, you didn't actually get the kill shit before they burrowed.
It's why I said the biggest factor is the latency problem which makes it more of a hassle than it truly is.
Dated Zero Damage thread +3
Thats probably the biggest reason for it
It's not a gimmick of the monster, it isn't a state they enter to reduce damage. Nor is it latency (for once). They only stop taking damage when they are at 1hp, otherwise they take full damage. It's either a bug or a bandaid for one, either is bad. That's just their unique gimmick honestly, much like you do zero damage (or severely reduced damage) to a Catuare in FFXI when they have a shirling shield around them even though you can obviously connect your weapons to them despite the shield being present. I think it's partly this, and partly wanting to give the mobs a "last ditch attack". In the case of funguars, when they inflate for their Queasy Cloud attack, it's a counter-attack that only goes off if they're attacked, and they seem to automatically inflate if they go below a certain %. That's partly why I made my suggestion of having them take one damage when it goes off, so they can essentially be "Dead" from damage, but still get off their last ditch counterattack as intended. It's definitely annoying, but I think it's working as intended.
If I had to guess, I'd say they probably didn't want the monster's animation to suddenly jolt over to their dying state, since they seem to care so much about animation fidelity. Either that or their system simply can't handle the monster dying while they're in the middle of an attack.
Yeah i have flipped an toad over when it was @ 50% and killed it but when i did it when it was near dead 0 dmg all the time.
Isnt a toad's belly a soft spot? Would make more sense for it to take more damage if you attack its belly.
Unless I'm mistaken gnats do this as well when they do their teleport move. They are unkillable while performing it.
Me and a LS member where doing a leve with toads the other day it flipped over and proceeded to run away sliding along on its back with its legs kicking in the air, needless to say I was crying with laughter. (I only wished I had captured it on video)
But yea the 0 damage thing is annoying.
Best i can figure its most likely due to death animation for those mobs require them to be in a nutral postition. the 1hp thing is probably a way to stop the toads doing there im a turtle thing to being back on there feat and dying.
I have yet to encounter this problem my self but i can see where it would be annoying
