The semiconductor shortage is real. I believe them when they say they literally can't obtain servers.
That being said, SE is certainly not without blame in all of this. Their queue system has been problematic since ARR launch and pushing Endwalker without reworking the queue is egregious. I can't think of any reason for the login server to handshake every 15 minutes for each user, to not try again if the handshake fails a single time, and then to eject the user from the client entirely. That's completely asinine and I'm kind of blown away that they didn't at least try to address this when they knew they couldn't obtain servers back in the spring.
I'm honestly in the same boat. And PST (GMT-8) to boot. Most people that I know that play this game is EST and I just got home from work and checked the queue. 6500. Honestly it's pretty wack. Before saying "Login at 4 am EST!" No I have a first shift job and don't work from home, let alone stay up or wake up at 1 AM when I get off at 5PM. It's crazy, any advice for those of us that are not east coast are welcome though. I get there's a chip shortage and stuff, but being left in the dust because of a timezone is pretty lame lol.

Okay see you in 6.1 then.
I have a job and I assure you, TC, that I make much more money than you.
Yet I can still play ff14 just fine.

If I see that situation, I would just queue even earlier. Right now, my benchmark is every 1000 means 30 mins.I tried that too this week with Remote Play on PS4 but you still have to be able to jump on it every time it disconnects you so you don't lose your queue, and it still doesn't solve the problem you are waiting for 3 hrs+ to play a game for 1 hr before bedtime. Not giving up on this game, as i've been playing it since Beta, but most posts i see here reflect the player frustration i also feel.
It will level off eventually, but i think it will be March by the time that happens, and that is 3 months most players that only play during peak hours will never get back.
