I'm sure language barriers are an issue but I've been around a while and from what I understand Oceania players were clamoring for their own datacenter because they have to play with horrible ping
Its even sadder for me, I was STUDYING basic Japanese at a uni, until COVID hit, i had been planning to go live in Japan for six months, to learn the language by burying myself in it. i can read basic Roman- ji but cant make head nor tails of katakana and hirigana, let alone kanji

I still want to go, when things get better ( Twelve willing ), to me one can only learn a language when you can THINK in it.

Ping is bad, between 250 and 400 ms, sometimes higher, and running some raids is a nightmare.

I will actually be sad to leave Kujata, we have a wonderful community, and in all truth, have not had any negative experiences with our Japanese colleagues, in truth it has been a joy to play alongside them.

Some clarification please Do each Data center/region have their own log in servers? If so who maintains them? I ask this because a previous poster stated that she hasn't had a que error since maintenance. I have not noticed any improvement in login performance and keep getting constant errors.

The error might have to do with how many people are in queue and are logging in when their queue reaches zero. I'm in EU and I have had that 2002 error only once in the past three days whereas before maintenance I had it several times each time I was in queue. EU's population is considerably smaller than NA's. And in my case I'm not on the biggest EU server.

    I disagree. I don't think he will.

How about they do it like New World and add 1000 servers, who then are deserted and empty and only cost money?

We're talking about a company here. They're not interested in throwing out cash, if the problem resolves itself in a few months anyway, which it will do naturally.

This is not about JP vs NA, this is about corporate trying to do what corporate does: Earn money.

But SE knew that their servers were complete garbage on NA during the summer, yet refused to upgrade or remedy it in any way.

Having a stable and wired connection yet having to babysit a 6 hour queue is complete bullocks. If you're defending this, yikes.
Actually the Oceanic Data Center has the potential to take some of the pressure of ALL the other Data Centers. There are many Oceanic players spread out on all of them.

I also remember when NA got split into 3 DCs SE saying the long term plan was to make room for additional servers in the future.

Now I am not arguing that things are not a mess right now. Just clarifying a bit.

Idk, even I'm starting to wonder at this point. I'm sure they haven't made much headway on fixing anything on their end if they've done just about all they're able, but, having burned through those 7 days, you'd kinda think they'd be pushing some sort of announcement by now. May yet be forthcoming, but, if JP has mostly settled down, wouldn't put it past them to think they're over the worst of it. I mean. Technically they might be, but, it's still pretty bad.

Yoshi P pretty much said they more or less exhausted their options by saying that they can't get enough servers even when they are willing to pony up marked up prices.

"We have made considerable investment—even more so than usual—to secure the required hardware, but even so, a long lead time will be needed to prepare the server hardware."

"Given the current situation, we anticipate that it may take several months or more to add new Worlds."

The most they can do are bandaid fixes until they can get those servers.

Many, many people in the tech infrastructure industry have already spoken up on this forum, Twitter, and other outlets to explain the semiconductor situation in great detail. In every case, their accounts have aligned with Square-Enix's statements.
