Map bug showing undiscovered area

In Mare Lametorum (and presumably elsewhere - I'm not going to try to give myself spoilers), I was in the NW room and opened my map. I hadn't explored the entire area yet, so part of it was still fogged over.

However, when I pressed the button to step out one level on the map, that area and I believe the entire zone was shown. This map is the one that shows entire groups of zones and how different maps connect.

I use a controller on the ps4.

That's not necessarily a bug. You may need to go further in and explore to get it to reveal and award XP.

The bug is that the regional map is showing me the area before I have explored it. It's supposed to be fogged where I haven't been, same as the zone map. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

The regional map fogs out the entire zone until you've discovered it, after which it shows the whole thing. Not sure if this was the case in the past, but it's how it works now.

Just accidentally bumped the triangle button again while on the fifth map, partially explored. Sure enough, the entire map was then revealed to me. This is definitely a spoiler bug.

It’s not. The regional map just doesn’t work on the same granularity as the zone map.
