And there’s nothing anyone can do about that ‘til the hype dies down. Regardless of the 2002s you’d be experiencing long queues during primetime anyways. That’s no ones fault.

It's the 2002's that are the problem. Having to babysit a queue for hours is asinine and this is all on SE...you shouldn't have to worry about having to restart your hours-long queue if you need to do things like get food, go to the bathroom, take a shower, etc.

    Regardless of the 2002s...?

At least if the 2002s weren't a thing I could reasonably expect to get on after a certain amount of time. I crashed, which ended up putting me in a 2700 queue. Ok, that's fine, so I go to wash dishes and come back to a 2002 now I'm in a 3200 person queue.

The 2002's are the one huge thing that I would think SE should feel pressured to address and fix. Despite the dev posts, there's been work shown that it has nothing to do with packet loss. It's all in the log-in servers code and theoretically should be able to be fixed. Errors/Bugs are definitely a valid critique that SE should be taking seriously.

Long queue times? Can't be helped. Server hardware not available? Can't be helped.

Actual errors in the code? CAN be helped. That should be what everyone should focus on. Without 2002's, a good number of people would be perfectly fine to sit and wait their turn, if they knew that when it was up they could actually play.

OP is complaining specifically about long queues.

I only want to know when the new servers will be available ... if they really plan to put new machines. I am starting to think square enix don't care , they already got the money.,

I should be playing the game instead complaning on this forum , so don't like what i said is SQUARE ENIX fault.

I wouldn't mind the queues, IF there was a grace period to reconnect if your get disconnected or have your game crash unexpectedly. There's no excuse for sending people back into the queue if the reason they get disconnected wasn't something they had control over.

That won't really be happening until they can acquire the hardware. That's not something easily solved with a semiconductor shortage that's affecting everything that makes use of them.

Look, I get the frustration. I just got booted back for the first time since about a week ago. 2.9k - 4.4k.

What I don’t get is why people are lambasting and raking SE over the coals for something that clearly can’t be fixed. A lot of people are saying that these things can be fixed but then it’s like… if they were able to they would’ve done something by now, because this *is* bad press- and not all press is good press. They stand to lose sub money for a good month or two if it continues. That’s a LOT. There’s no benefit to them not fixing it, and every benefit to them fixing it. If they fix it that’s another notch on their ‘JFC these devs are some of the best MMO devs’ belt. If they don’t that’s a good few good noodle stars removed.

And again, as I said above, OP was complaining about the queue specifically, and not about the disconnects. Hence “regardless of the 2002s.”

Apologies, I wasn't attacking you. I was agreeing with you for the most part, that the long queues aren't something that should be the center stage of the complaint department during this.

My take on the 2002's was after reading the google doc floating around in another thread that shows the communication between client and server side, and that the 2002's were occuring not due to packet loss, but because of the way the log-in servers handle their queue position checks and the timing of sending communication back and forth. It was an interesting read, and also leans towards that SE could *really* improve their position by doing something with it.

I'm definitely not frustrated or jaded. I get my playtime in and I'm a happy player. I just think the rational discussion here shouldn't be about queue times or server hardware, but something that SE can control right now yet doesn't seem to want to, the 2002 errors.

I’m of a mind that they’ve not fixed it because it would break something else - typically what I’m thinking when there’s something that if they don’t fix it they’re liable to get raked over the coals for it.

You’re valid though, I apologize for not being able to see the overall point you were making and just going based off of what I thought I was reading
