I don't know, both scenarios seem to be the same to me, just one option actually gives others a chance to play the video game entertainment whereas the other continues to lock people out (as we're already seeing happen).
Huge difference being that people can't play because they can only play during peak hours. At 11am PST, I instantly get in, zero issues. 1pm, mild queue, not that big of a deal, etc.

So SE isn't telling you outright "you can't play, sorry". But you're asking them to tell that to other players because they have a lifestyle or schedule that allows them to game when they want.

No one is taking the other group's ability to play away. They are all trying to play during peak hours at the same time.

Do not blame people and punish people that have adjusted their hours, schedules, taken PTO, etc for the current situation.

It sounds cruel, but that isn't that group's problem that others can't adjust their playtimes and keep slamming themselves against the brick wall that is the Peak Hours.

A more reasonable suggestion to lessen the peak hour problem is to call for SE to be more aggressive in dealing with AFKers bypassing the kick, the RMT'ers selling gil and inadvertently taking up those precious server spots and queue spots in the line. Asking SE to actually *address* the 2002 issue instead of blaming it on packet loss.

Again: Punishing everyone is not the solution, and it's flat out selfish entitlement to ask for such.

I get some people can't get on because they have kids, jobs, a spouse, whatever. But as I said before, your life variables are your issue to juggle. Not mine. And it shouldn't be anyone else's problem either.

So yes, it IS selfish to say that a company should limit other people's play time because it's 'unfair' to you. Blows my mind.

On fire with the replies. Exactly. If i am gonna start sharing my playtime with people are they gonna pay for half my sub. It sucks that certain people have been not been able to play at all, but that doesn’t mean you get to ruin others play just for your own.
I struggle with the same Queues. Been in one for 5 hrs now, my thoughts will always be though that my time is no more important than anothers.

i am not taking your game time away by playing the game, you however are taking mine by forcing me out if i have been on to long. If you can only olay at certain hours that’s a you and SE problem, and not on other paying customers. I am also not even arguing for myself i play at the very most 4 hrs outside of an 18 blitz on day 1. I have also been stuck in Queue all day. My thoughts however remain the same i have no more right to play than someone who’s been on the game all day.

I agree that it's wrong. Can't stop myself from feeling envious though and I hate it.

So, your 4000 player queue becomes a 10000 player queue, which goes down almost immediately. However, if you managed to get into the game 10 minutes before shutdown, you're going back to the end of the queue when the world is reset.

I'd rather get up at 5 am and spend most of the morning online.
server restarts would be far fairer than dictating how long a person could play.

The problem with random restarts is it would be of little effect it was random.

Late nights don't have a queue or much of one til around 11..

Most people afk during the hours that anyone could log in, and resets during prime time would be terrible for anyone that is running content with friends. No real effective solutions here.

For fishing, if you spend too long at a single fishing hole, you eventually get an error message that asks you to physically move the character to a different spot because the "fish sense something is amiss."

I think that, in addition to the auto kick after 30 minutes of inactivity, a kick after an hour of no zoning might be another layer they could add on it. People who are afk botting in their houses are "interacting" but they obviously aren't teleporting. Exceptions would be hour long plus instanced areas (raids, dungeons, Bozja, etc) but they also have an automatic 10 minute kick timer anyway.

Alongside a similar warning message that fishers get that they should physically change zones. This would break the less sophisticated crafting and gathering bots, too.
