My friend who used to play this game is a notorious cutscene skipper and he marked out when they revealed G'Raha. I told him to try to pay attention with Shadowbringers and he did up until after you fight the last boss. After that he went back to not caring again. But that was a cool moment because like you he hit that ARR wall and stopped caring and bought a skip to Shadowbringers. Granted it didn't last long, but he seemed like he got into it for him. But he was always a big Wow player anyway which is why he hasn't come back.

The Final Fantasy RPG series has always been story driven. It's as much about the journey as the destination.
Agreed, there is a lot of filler content in 2.0 that feels like a slog when you're progressing through it, but it's important for world and character building.

Not only that, but at the time the dev team was essentially working on 2 mmos. They were simultaneously adding 1.xx content and creating ARR so there wasn't a lot of end game content.

And it wasn't only 1.x content they had to create but also fix the game mechanics like no auto attack or mini map to name a few. Which is why I quit 1.0 after a couple of months.

I agree that running back and forth across all of Eorzea collecting food for a banquet while Tidus, err Titan was reeking havoc seems unproductive but they needed some way to slow the progression of players while more content was being created.

The ARR slog is still better than the fatigue system from 1.0 in my opinion.

some of ARR is really mundane and boring no doubt, it picks up in heavensward and then lull's again in stormblood- there is so much meaningless dialogue that you get lost and forget what it was originally over, now not all of it is like that - just anything to do with MSQ. Also the most annoying boss lines in the history of FF. *forced maniacal laughter* "RRRRHIP AN TEAARR: MOAR, MOAR, MOAR"
i still dont remember stormblood, other than a certain future enemy's hard-on crush on our character. i do recommend trying to pay attention to it as best as you can, and recap when needed.

Endwalker touches on a lot of stuff all the way back to ARR. You will appreciate it far more if you go back.

I was following most of it up until I hit that duty where I played as a random person in Garlemald . I was so mad over that duty because it never explained one thing and I hate play as another character any way, that I skipped the cut scenes after I finally finished it. And since then I have just been skipping everything. Still having fun though despite that, I always did enjoy quests, just stopped caring about the story.

Are you aware the in your Inn rooms, there's a book called The Unending Journey? You can watch all the cutscenes you've unlocked in that book. It'll get you aware of the story.

Does The Unending Journey actually have *all* cutscenes you've unlocked/viewed? I seem to recall I tried looking through it once and couldn't find several scenes I'd wanted to have play over again. Is there a website or YouTube resource with a library of all those cutscenes? It'd be fun to revisit some of those past story moments.

It should have every cutscene you've viewed, though they are split up annoyingly. Story significant end-of-dungeon cutscenes are in a separate 'dungeon' tab instead of in with the story, for example.
