This thread is turning into whether or not it's morally acceptable to subscribe simply to keep your house and to that I say yes. In fact I've done it for a year and I know many others who have. It's part of the subscription you pay and there's nothing wrong with that. I shouldn't be penalized for taking a break and had to pay a premium to retain the 200mil gil I invested into furniture and other things for the house (at the time). There's no recovering your items either if you go away too long and you can say good-bye to your mogstation items as well. It's a poorly made system, they know of this and they are trying to remedy it one step at a time. Hopefully everyone will be able to have their own house like old times but it is what it is and I would recommend anyone who doesn't want to lose their house and items to remain subscribed and login once a month to prevent the demolition.

Now for those people who bought like half a dozen houses, it was in their right long ago to do so and are grandfathered in. They can't move to ishgard if they wanted to, they are stuck with what they have unless they relinquish all their houses presumably. It's it morally right? I don't know, they paid their sub and it was their right to do so. It wasn't until the first exodus when housing became a bit hard to find and by the second exodus back in June, it's next to impossible unless you get really lucky. Would you really relinquish your land if you had a few plots? Probably not because you can't do that anymore.

They will have islands, maybe housing in those islands. I wouldn't worry too much about housing yet since ishgard is coming in a few weeks too.
