To be fair... Sith Warrior is extremely well-written. Especially if you are Neutral and not full Light or Dark. Keeping Jaesa light sided really made things interesting too.I'm sorry, but I'll never understand people that act like SWTOR had this epic level of writing quality. It doesn't. The writing is generally at about the level of how I wrote when I was 15. It's perfectly fine but it's all fairly simple plots and devices. The fun comes out of getting to make some choices and see your character actually DO the thing you wanted them to.
FFXIV's storywriting is much higher level than SWTOR's. However, sometimes it is a lot less fun because of it as the dialogue can be too long and start to drag. Or can be about weird stuff you don't understand or don't care about. I think this expansion's writing is worse than SWTOR's though so I'll give you one expansion. The rest there's no contest.
Bounty Hunter is good too... If you're Light-Sided. Dark-Side makes no sense since Light-Side is more Mandalorian (while Dark-Side is just dumb and self-hurting yourself) which the Bounty Hunter story pushes hard towards after you get Torian.
SWTOR has better storytelling. By the by, FFXIV would probably be a f2p game too if they hadn't taken the gamble to rebuild the game for ARR which turned it *more* into an MMO like WoW and SWTOR.
XIV coasted along for years after ARR without much notice until Shadowbringers so I wouldn't get too confident with its place as the number one MMO. XIV lacks a lot of things that draw people, for instance it'll never have good PvP and MSQ will only tide people over for a week every couple of months. It's mostly enjoying the success it is right now because WoW is getting bad press and there aren't many options in the MMO space anymore.
I wouldn’t say 14’s story writing is much higher if at all. Hell, even endwalker was just full of monotonous cliches. Shadowbringers was good but the post patches were horrible story wise. Felt like a kids movie with the floating pigs lmao.I'm sorry, but I'll never understand people that act like SWTOR had this epic level of writing quality. It doesn't. Your hat is safe. Heck even February is looking overly aggressive and that's not even considering the massive outcry against many of the changes they're making. It's shaping up to be yet another disaster on the scale of 5.0.
Which is a shame. SW:TOR was my first MMO and I've been a fan of Star Wars since A New Hope's original release in 1977. These days the only times I've played was when XIV had extended maintenance but I just picked up Elite: Dangerous during a Steam's Black Friday sale and having fun with that.
It must be a sith trick. I wont be fool by that!
.....Nice try
The menacing aura of every Lalafell.
May the force be with you friend. I can barely play XIV as my main game and keep up with life, let alone commit myself to another MMO.
Well SWTOR got better zone design than a ffxiv to be fair
after seeing some of them in Endwalker... i think they didn't put much effort into creating them
