I hate to be that guy, but SWTOR was such an excellent game at launch - it's not now what it once was.
That being said, the story is still a lot of fun to play through, and I'd recommend it.
Not disagreeing with you, FFXIV are superior in many aspects like game mechanic, game system, social interaction, economic etc but when it come to story writing I give SWTOR higher regard. At least some for some of the class story and Shadow of Revan.
I feel like I am only one sometimes who actually enjoyed the Consular story.
I also quite liked my little crew that my character gathered, especially Qyzen! He followed me on all my adventures racking up the kills for his scorekeeper.
Shall never forget that time someone important in the Consular story perished and my fricken character raised them.. Because you know, we have a resurrection ability.. and heals.. I heal people during my cutscenes because I have heals too.. Square.. stop making me watch people die with my hand outstretched like a buffoon.
It's been a while but I enjoyed all the 1-50 stories. After that it was just meh. They took out so much that made the game fun. You use to be able to give Nadia a single light saber. Then they homogenized all the companions.I feel like I am only one sometimes who actually enjoyed the Consular story.

Smuggler was my favorite, but I think every class gets some opportunities to just impulsively kill someone. That is something FFXIV is missing.

Well, to each their ownI've played them all, I disagree. The Choices in SWTOR are what, to me, weakens the narrative as they have to either simplify them, or make them overall meaningless. KofFE was about the only one that I felt my previous decisions mattered because it effected what companions I got to keep or get back, although even then it felt unrewarding or good as a story.
Like some players found the whole return to ivalice poorly written while I found one of the best alliance raid. Some love the NieR raid when I don’t feel rerunning it as soon as I get the equipment I need
I agree, but it started going downhill about the same time ffxiv 2.0 came out. The call of loot boxes is too powerful
i mean its a LOT of work keeping 8 story lines going. and the 8 class stories were a big thing many people liked. it was predictable that they couldnt keep up with that format
