Sage would be great with a few tweaks

Sage's Shield is faster than Sch's and it is amazing, you just got to learn the flow. NEVER CAST DIAGNOSIS doing this is why tanks say sage sucks. Diagnosis is a trap much like cure I physik and benefic I just don't use it. Get used to shielding Sage is unique as it gives a sound notification when the shield breaks. Its amazing. Sage is probably the most fun healer atm. Toxicon is ALWAYS up if you STOP USING DIAGNOSIS AND USE YOUR SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It too is amazing. Sage's whole kit revolves around shielding people. it cuts 6 buttons into 4 by using Eukrasia.

If you want hard casted long shields just play sch.

Yep, Physick is even better than Diagnosis at max level, 50 more potency.

But even then we don't use it at-all.

Re-applying E.Diag if you need to is always going to be better than the casted options, and you do it until other 10% mitigation cooldowns can come back up.
