And you still refuse to get that it doesn't matter if it was 'to be expected a mile away' when even before the influx of the last 6 months it was already impossible to get what they needed. And just like so many others, you mistake 'excuses' with 'an actual valid reason'. You honestly think a shortage that has the entire industrial world from car manufacturing to computers ground to a stand still is a 'baseless excuse'?

The problem is they keep saying semi-conductor shortage, and while there is a shortage there isn't zero supply. Their argument falls apart once you actually put it to the test. You can order a high end maxed out server and the lead time is currently about a month. A more mid-range server has a 3-day lead time. Sure, it's not tomorrow, but if they've really been trying for 7 months then they'd have had the hardware long ago.

It's a little bit like how they said the 2002 error was due to user packet loss, but we found out they deliberately time out connections after 15 minutes and when the client reconnects if the data centre is full you get a 2002. It actually has nothing to do with packet loss of the client end.

Square Enix/the dev team aren't being completely truthful and they're getting found out.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that this was the smoothest MMO launch of all time. Many of those people have adjusted their sleep schedules to sleep right after work and then wake up in the middle of the night to play. I guess the game has changed. Shadowbringers and Endwalker were supposed to be more accommodating to new players in many ways, yet those who have no problem are the same ones who play for 18 hours straight on a weekday and beat all content on day two of launch. Maybe this game just isn’t meant for the rest of us yet.

The only reason they didn't respond to the influx as we all feel they should.. is because they couldn't, this has been made very clear already.

If you develop a Game/Expansion/Technological device and so on, and notice that it just isn't ready yet and will cause problems for a huge portion of people... would you just publish it nonetheless? Blame it on this pandemic/market/whatever?

Seriously, I can't understand why people are so adamant about defending gigantic corporations for no reason.
OF COURSE this situation causes problems, but is DOESN'T excuse an abhorrent situation for the majority of players.
In these last two hours in which I was in queue, I moved from 3.5k to 2.1k and had 3 error message during that time, all with a 100% stable LAN-connection.

How, just HOW can someone sh*t in your soup and you happily eat it saying that it's fine cause of the current situation???

booked 3.5 weeks off work ALL my holidays to play endwalker, 2 of those wer wasted fromt he 2 week delay, other week wasted because i can't log in. they messed up big time and don't anyone dare defend them. they should and could have upgraded the EU servers 2 years ago but they didnt, they could have made more eu servers 2 years ago but they didnt, EU has 13.

Two years ago.. just shy of three months of when the lockdowns started. Wow, it's been that long.

What do you suggest? A MMO just stagnate for years until it takes for the supply chain to catch up? Past MMOs have shown what this results in.

I came here to say this. I work for a company that manufactures PCBAs. While it’s true that there is an industry wide shortage, it doesn’t mean we had to shut down production entirely.

It means we have to deal with longer lead times, increases prices and sometimes buying outside of our AVL (approved vendor list).

Using the chip shortage as an excuse for a delay is ok, using it as an excuse as to why it’s not going to happen is straight up BS.

My guess is SE did not want to pony up to the increased cost until they knew for sure that the population would stay at a size warranting it - but not increasing the servers they are just screwing themselves over by all the frustrated people leaving.

Exactly that's the thing. I have written a script about 2 years ago to track my Internet connection at all times (cause I had problems with my provider back then and he demanded proof of my bad conneciton).
I switched providers by now but kept the tracker. My connection is absolutely flawless, no package loss at all, and yet I still get these error messages.

SE should absolutely either provide additional free subscription days to compensate or implement a means to pause subscriptions. Aside from that, it is what it is, and if you don't understand why this problem is here, it's because you've made no effort to figure it out, because they've told us why, and they told us it was going to happen (and why) before it did.

That's the thing though. Servers and components are limited currently, but they aren't unavailable.
The company I work for isn't even 1% the size of Square Enix, and we just bought a shitton of servers to upgrade.
If a huge corporation like Nintendo, Sony and yes, also Square, want Servers, they can get them. They might be a bit more expensive than the norm, but don't tell me FF14 has money problems with the current congestion.
