It is NOT packet loss. Even with a perfect and 100% stable connection it is very likely that the 2002 error will appear. It is built in in the client. Read this:

So basically, months.Given the current situation, we anticipate that it may take several months or more to add new Worlds.
What we're waiting for right now is the expansion to die off or lose player base. That's literally the only way it can get better. However, despite the queues the expansion itself is amazing, WoW is in the dumpster, there's very little competition and we haven't even started on the raids yet. Even if things settle down, players will think "oh, it's playable now" and drift back. So, who knows. It could indeed easily take months.
It won't take months expansions peak early on in terms of player base and its a steady decline after that. The expansion is not really anything new in terms of post MSQ content and as more people finish it your going to have less and less engagement, I would give it at most a week after the normal raids is released before queue times start to become much more manageable like every other expansion. So basically, months.

While I agree, keep in mind we're in uncharted territory. FFXIV is essentially the MMO right now. Hell, WoW is such a mess they didn't even have a release to coincide with Endwalker's. At least not one that many care about. There's nothing to draw people away in the MMO market. It won't take months expansions peak early on in terms of player base and its a steady decline after that. Just tried do log in. Getting a 2002 on "connecting to data center".
Logged in at 11am, 90min 1800 queue, played 2 hours, power tripped out again, logged back in.... 7k queue. Well thats me offline till at least 9pm not a hope am I waiting in a queue that long. :/

No idea when it will be fixed, maybe summer next year. But i would suggest they fix the que rather sooner than later or they will lose a ton of people and subs (money) because people are not willing anymore waiting hours until they can log in day, after day, after day. Maybe getting new servers for a higher price would be cheaper than loosing thousand of subs because people cant play.
havnt encountered any que problems, from 5k it goes straight to a login. Server save your spot if you get a 2002 now right?thats what happened last time i got a 2002

In the EU it is a big problem. Our queues decrease roughly at 1,5k per hour. If you have a 6k queue then you wait ~4 hours. At this point the 2002 error can occur ~16 times because the client closes the connection to the lobby server ever 15 minutes.
Cheers
Yes, can confirm the 1,5k per hour. Yesterday i was 2700 in queue, went for a shower, then came back to a 2002 error and 5900 in queue. I really don't blame anyone, but since i'm not fully enjoying the game in this current situation, i think i'll take a 2-3 weeks break.
