Linking servers would be worse. They are phsycally in those regions, being put on a Japanese server when you are in NA would be higher ping and you would get lag latency issues. It be better if they just shut down all of ffxi servers and used them. They could also link the servers like when its prime play time in NA it's low play time on JP servers. All they need to do is have housing on there own server so if you was on a JP server when your in NA server you could still use your housing and fc housing.
As an Australian playing on NA Hyperion since 2013, allow me to say:
Oh no, more than double digit ping. Unplayable!
Seriously. It always irks me when i see people whine about lag.
FFXIV is the single most lenient MMO I've ever played in regards to latency. The only noticeable effect Latency has on you is the lead time for reacting to and getting out of doompuddles.
Our actions are processed client side the instant you begin the action. Damage may appear a fraction of a second later than you're used to.
Latency has an incredibly minimal effect on gameplay.
If I was able to clear Twintania prenerf as a Monk with ping fluctuating between 400 and 600 at a time before the fixed the server tick rates (Look up old school Titan HM and EX to see how bad it was) causing the lagfeel to be closer to 900 sometimes, I'm sure you could deal with being put on a JP server to play MSQ.
I was going to say something along this line myself. I am a NA player and have had a character on a JP server for more than a year. I won't say there is no lag but I will say I adjusted to it with little trouble and don't even notice it most of the time. I am pretty much only playing my JP character at this point. I will get back to my main on NA when things settle. At least I get to play this way.As an Australian playing on NA Hyperion since 2013, allow me to say:
