Please leave FFXI servers alone, thank you very much. Also, the server you need for FFXI and for FFXIV are probably not the same.It be better if they just shut down all of ffxi servers and used them. They could also link the servers like when its prime play time in NA it's low play time on JP servers. All they need to do is have housing on there own server so if you was on a JP server when your in NA server you could still use your housing and fc housing.
I have this itching feeling you play on a super pop server because queues are not even remotely that bad on mine. If you choose to stay on a super pop realm, you accept your super pop problems.I've been monitoring my log in attempts for hours upon hours and days upon days, and usually, if I'm patient, I get in, BUT, today, since 3pm est (almost 5 hours) I have attempted to login in 4 times and each time whenever the queue gets under 1000, I get kicked out. this doesn't include the 8-10 times I was denied access to the log in server lobby.
I'm not mad, and I don't blame SE. I really do understand, but I sincerely hope they can get more servers up and running VERY. SOON.
putting it simply: this is really bad for the game.
I know the engineers probably could all use some sleep by now, so I have a suggestion: borrow a few servers from world of warcraft and new world. I have this feeling that they have a few extras lying around that they would be happy to get rid of.
meanwhile, I'll wait and hope I can get to play a little bit. good luck with your queues everybody. one day, while we're all happily playing FFXIV, we'll remember this ordeal and laugh....but not today.
regards and no, I'm not going anywhere.

You realize you can see under their profile what their main server is, right? They play on Midgardsormr, which is one of the mid-small ones on Aether. The big ones are Sargatanas, Gilgamesh, and Jenova. Though honestly, the population variance isn't massive like on Crystal, with Balmung being significantly busier than everything that's not Balmung.

Even if Blizzard and Amazon were willing to part with those servers, it would NOT be as simple as shipping the servers over, plugging them in, installing the FF14 server software on them, and calling it a day. I don't have any inside knowledge of the backend of FF14, WoW, or NW, but I do work in web development. The other games' servers probably use different hardware and operating systems (Including different versions), and the architecture is almost certainly radically different from FF14. The backend of online services (including games) are generally designed with specific architecture, hardware, and operating systems in mind.
That's also why when a new server OS update is released, you can't just immediately jump in and install it; you first have to install it on an internal development machine, see what it breaks, and modify your own software to make it compatible with the OS updates, and test it, before you can push it to production.
Even when WoW Classic came out, Blizzard pretty much had to rebuild the entire backend from scratch, as modern WoW's bears almost no resemblance to 2004 WoW's backend. They put out blog posts detailing how radically different WoW's backend is from 2004 to now.

Agreed. It isnt , i worked with a commercial ISP, and the process is a hell of a lot more complicated than one step.Even if Blizzard and Amazon were willing to part with those servers, it would NOT be as simple as shipping the servers over,
Speaking of which, folks, did you know they deployed the DEV SERVERS to try and ameliorate the situation?
THAT is an indication on its own. Look, I get it, its frustrating as hell, but they are doing all they can. I have no idea what kind of work hours they have right now, but Id say that sleep is the last item on their agendas.
Remember the announcement when the game was delayed?
Did you look at Yoshi's face? ive seen that before, and I GAURANTEE YOU he hadnt slept much for a week. He was EXHAUSTED, in his face, I saw what mine looked like after a fifteen hour stretch in ER.
Get home from work, force yourself to eat, when your body is saying "why are you eating now, its 3am and you should be asleep" , crash for a few precious hours and then back to it. The team loves this game, wants a happy and contented playerbase, you can be 10000% sure they want this fixed as much as you do.
Yoshi would have had to front up to the board, and the CEO ( that alone gave ME ulcers when I had to submit a report to the CEO of a company in person, with news I knew he was NOT going to be happy with. He wasnt. That meeting was...ugly...)....the stress that man must be under is enormous.
Please..all of you... Give the team a break They are doing all they can to fix this, and there IS NO one step, simple solution. There isnt.
If there was, don't you think they'd have DONE IT by now? i know its frustrating, its annoying, you want to get in and play like everyone else.
I mean no disrespect , but you are asking the impossible.

Taking away servers from ANYONE isnt viable for one simple reason .
You are solving one problem..and CREATING another.
Not an option, under any circumstances.
We pay to play not to wait.
If Blizzard sells their servers its to the consumers with an upmarked price point. No cap for the 15th? anniversary they sold old servers to the people.

after this is all over and the dust has settled, how about they give us a store-wide 50% off lightning sale for, say, 48 hours with one gift included, a single character mount, with the first purchase. I'd be happy if they just brought back the special event black car and quest.
BTW, the "get a server" comment was more of a snark at "those other games" than anything like a serious suggestion. frankly, I just needed a little chuckle.
