Let me start this post by saying that my partner and I love playing this game. We joined a couple months back on the trial and fell in love with the story, the game play, everything. We enjoyed it so much in fact, that on November 1st, we each bought a 6-month subscription. Everything was great til Early Release for Endwalker (which we purchased because we knew we'd eventually want to finish the story completely).
Since then, the game has been predominantly inaccessible to us and many others. We're raising a toddler and the only times that are available to us are what Square Enix refers to as "peak-time". Well, it's "peak" for a reason. For so many folks, that's the only time they can log in.
I've contacted Square Enix support requesting a partial refund for the unused/unusable months while the data centers are installed. Like so many others, I was denied.
So, my suggestion to Square Enix is to allow us to instead pause our subscriptions. The company can keep my money as the intent is, and has always been, to return when the additional data centers are in place. That way, Square Enix can ensure the same (or close to) service levels as when we joined, and we're able to utilize the service we paid for at those levels.
We're not looking for a refund on Endwalker. We want to play it. Heck, we haven't even made it through ARR at this point but we're so excited to eventually get to it. We literally just want either a partial refund for the time we're unable to use through no fault of our own, or the ability to pause the subscription so we can pick back up when the additional DCs are online. As of today, we're past the 7 "free days". What are we supposed to do now?
The fact that Square Enix is so reluctant to do anything to make good financially for the users like us that have precious little playing time throughout the week is disappointing. And, it's frankly surprising to us as this is the first game of the company we have played.
