Sound stuttering.

Date & Time: It started on 6.0 release.
Frequency: All the time I am logged in the game and something happens that causes a sound effect. Becomes nearly unbearable when there are a lot of sound effects at once.
World name: Odin.
Character name: Glenn Dewulf.
Retainer name: None.
NPC name: None.
Monster name: None.
Class/Level: Warrior/53.
Party or solo: Both.
In-game time: All the time.
Area and coordinates: Everywhere.
Housing: None.
Steps:
1. Log into the game.
2. Hear a sound effect of any kind.
3. Stuttering occurs, particularly in dungeons, where there are a lot of sound effects.
*Add more steps if necessary

- Type of internet connection/provider: My connection is excellent at all times...
- Modem maker/model number: I don't even know. I don't think this is relevant.

Having the same issue.
Occurs on both DX9 and DX11 versions of the game, occurs since 6.0 update.

Same here. I haven't tried DX9 client since I recall it has a habit of crashing on me. I've also tried enabling/disabling the new sound plugin. Game and computer both restarted several times since early access started. I've seen threads where people have tried reinstalling with no luck (I'm not going to bother as no one has reported that as a fix).

Having the same issues. The stutter is constant. At high peek times in the server I just lose audio entirely and it won't come back until I restart the client. And since that's happened during peek hours it's nearly impossible to get back in to the game for 2+ hours. Direct x9 or x11 doesn't matter, it's done it on both. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling ffxiv and multiple reboots of my computer and nothing has worked. At this point it's extremely disheartening and frustrating because audio is so integral to the cutscenes and story.

Same issue here, only happens when my headphones are connected though?? Crashes the game every time I use them, haven't made it past the queue yet. Error message is in Japanese too despite having the UI in English lol

I’m having the same issue as this but only when I try to change audio device from speakers to headphones. As soon as I switch to headphones I get very loud sound stuttering and then the game crashes. If I load the game with headphones already in use there are no problems.
I switch between speakers & headphones often and this only started happening in 6.0.

Bump. Tired of watching CS's with talking and no talking, also no casting sounds please fix this its annoying waiting 4 hours to get into the game then have zero sound to play a game with other than BGM and System sounds.
