To all of you. I fully understood that it was an option to ask them to stop. I'm not that naïve. But my anxiety makes that hard. I kept having worries about making things awkward and/or ruining THEIR experience if I did so. Which is what stopped me. I cant role play with randoms, because again, I have bad anxiety. The point of me even making this thread was to hopefully get anyone who had thoughts of doing this to not do so in the first place. My point was never 'should I have asked them to stop?'

But the situation you described is such a rare occurrence. I've been playing for nearly a year and have not come across anything like this before.
I understand you're anxious, but you have no issue in explaining yourself on the forums so what's stopping you from saying something when you're in that situation? There's nothing wrong with being anxious but realistically, you're talking to people online and if anyone reacts negatively towards you; just blacklist them - you have tools at your fingertips for your own comfort.

That is because you are from EU, NA is a whole different community and way more openminded and social than EU players. I can say this because I have played 4 years on NA and almost 4 years on EU. The mentality on EU is very quiet whereas NA it is very interactive during dungeon runs. I miss it tbh.

Then I'd like to genuinely ask you again: If they weren't in character and instead two people chatting about something inane while still commenting that you and the other player weren't talking, would this still be an issue? Because if so, the sole issue sits with you and not them. Just click your chat bar off. As others have said, if they were RP walking the entire zone or eating mechanics because "My character doesn't know how to dodge" etc, that's a very different issue.

I'm not a roleplayer myself, but this entire situation just seems... I dunno, inane? Blacklist and such exist for a reason, simply use it and move on so you don't need to worry about the conversation or the response.

Roleplaying in a dungeon is annoying but if people are pushing their buttons and the dungeon is getting done theres no real issue. Ignore that chat box or switch chat tabs if you cannot keep yourself from looking, you'll be rid of them soon enough and with servers as busy as they are now you won't likely be seeing them again.

I think its entirely weird to know there is an obvious solution, say you cant do obvious solution because of IRL problem like anxiety, but then expect others to bend to your will on something that isnt even a problem. Creating problems out of thin air. Its as easy as just, you know, not even reading what they say, turning chat off, or not caring? If your anxiety is causing you to take it way further than it needs to then you just need to tend to yourself.
No need to try and make the entirety of the player base to adapt to your issues. What if it was the same on their end, the fact you werent playing along or werent actively engaging, was making them extremely anxious and insecure? Which one of you has the moral highground?

I think at this point, and I mean no harm telling you this, the bigger problem is your anxiety. The fact that such a trivial thing makes you feel that way is concerning. I hope you're well, and you're able to deal with stuff like that in the future.

I was tanking a roulette with randoms and got Aetherochemical Research Facility. There was a couple of players in that run that were role playing as if they were doing their own storyline type of thing and kept trying to rope me and the other player into their role playing. Neither of us was interested as they should've been able to tell when we weren't talking.

To make matters worse these people kept poking hints at us like 'These warriors are mighty quiet.' or 'I wonder why they're not talking...' This drove my anxiety up really bad. And I just kept doing emotes at them to try to keep the mood light between the entire party. Their persistence felt like borderline harassment to my oversensitive ass. But I cant get that upset since I didn't ask them to stop in the first place. The other party member was not having any of it. You should've seen how fast he left after the dungeon was over. Left via the duty menu so quickly he did.

The run was not pleasant for me at all. I do role play but mainly with friends, and definitely not in duty finder dungeons with randoms I literally met 5 seconds ago. So please... don't try to force/rope other people into your role play. Or at least just me.

I mean i dont see why their chat box drove your anxiety up, minimize the box and just play the game without reading chat.
