Soloing dungeons?

Hey there

I've had FFXIV since release but never much played it with serious intent, always stopping around rank 10-ish on my main job pick. Recently though, I've been giving it an honest go and things seem much better since I last played.

Question regarding dungeons. I prefer a solo type play, and now that's I'm rank 30, I'm wondering about dungeons. I was ran through one by two very generous Rank 50's for a GC quest to get my mount, and the content intrigued me. Are there any solo dungeons available for solo players? If not, is there any content that feels similar to a dungeon and potentially offers loot of some type?

I understand after a certain point partying becomes necessary, as is dictated by the games progression. Still, again, I prefer to solo and would like that kept in mind with regard to any helpful replies.

All the current raid dungeons in game require at least 2 (level 25 one) or 4 (level 45 ones) players to enter. You could probably solo the level 25 one as level 50, but you would have to get someone to let you in. The higher level dungeons aren't soloable.

There is an open world dungeon called Sphoshae in La Noscea very close to Limsa Lominsa. There are treasure chests and boss NMs and you might like it. It's planned for a level 15ish group, so I don't know how it feels like at level 30 though. I recommend you give it a try and see how it goes.

Aaaaay mateyyyy... go plunder a jacket and more. It work for me. Got to get the hang of it and learn about the different keys that drop and which chest to open. Curtain areas have firefly type mob you fight and drop a key, then with that key you open a check. it's completely random but you also get a key from chest of a different kind to open another chest. The loot is completely random also.

Good thing though, it a totally open dungeon with no restrictions (how everything should be) and you can make a lot of money and farm a ton of loot and sell it. There was a resource I used but forgot where it was. It showed me where the chest were and what keys to farm.

as for the 15 raid, kill till your loot is 10/10 with keys and then go quickly open chests its fun

Not quite the same as a full blown dungeon with a boss objective or loot objective, but there are level 30ish locations that could be explored for giggles.

Nanawa Mines north of Thanalan's Camp Black Brush.
Muay Thai Cellar north of the Black Shroud's Camp Emerald Moss.
Cassiopeia Hallow south of La Noscea's Camp Bloodshore.
With notorious monsters in each that may have some loot of interest, count toward an achievement, and prove a difficult encounter if you're not a higher level or in party.

As you level up to 40+, you might investigate locations such as Copperbell Mines southeast of Camp Horizon, Mistbeard Cove north of Camp Bald Knoll, and the Lara Croft dungeon south of Camp Bentbranch. Couldn't tell you what are in these except for giant ant lions and diremites that make me sick in Copperbell.

The beastmen strongholds at level 48+ may also prove an interesting venture to see how far you can get solo. There are some enemies that drop keys to chests that contain loot. You may find some competition for these items.
