Any way to reload sound without restarting the game? Nothing worked but restarting.

I just spent 2 hours in queue to log in and have no sound. Nothing done with the settings affected it. Had to log out and restart the game and now sitting at the back of another 2 hour queue!!!! There were no error message related to the lack of sound. Sound from other windows programs worked correctly.

Please tell me there is some command to reload the ui or sound that I can use to fix the no sound issue without wasting hours of my time.

If you go to the System Configuration > Sound > Equalizer and set the Equalizer to Standard, that usually brings it back but for many including myself the sound is not the same anymore. There's a huge sound bug happening that seems to occur in crowded areas or during fights that even after doing the fix I suggested will lack battle effect noises and voice acting in cutscenes... Soken tweeted that he was aware of the issue however, so hopefully they are actively working on a fix.

    I've tried:
    • choosing different in-game eq options
    • toggling mute on the various volume sliders in-game
    • toggling mute in windows sound mixer
    • plugging in a usb HyperX Cloud II headset (has its own sound device)
    • switching from add-in card (soundblaster) to motherboard sound (realtek) and changing default device
    • changing to monitor speakers (nvidia audio), setting that as default
    • disabling nvidia's virtual audio device (from another post somewhere)
    • disabling and re-enabling the sound devices in device manager
    • routing the sound through nvidia broadcast (out of ideas at this point)
Sounds continued to play from other programs (Discord, web browser) with the various changes. It was solely FFXIV that lost sound. As I couldn't think of anything else, I closed the game and restarted. Sound started working again for it in the title screen and continued to work after sitting through the queue again.

I really am starting to think this is all related to the Immerse audio stuff, as all of my sound issues only started after 6.0. The last time I had a sound issue, I lost everything besides the BGM. Wondering if it was some issue with realtek (motherboard sound), I installed a soundblaster ae-5x which was what I was using when I lost sound completely. It doesn't seem to matter what hardware is being used.

Also thinking about the Immerse stuff, since it's a sub, how and when does it check if your account is active for it? Is it doing it while you are playing? I haven't a clue as I have no interest in it (I don't normally use a headset so its of no benefit). I did find in one of the faq's that unlike the other immerse software, the ffxiv one is rendered inside the game itself so who knows what the game is doing to check if the Immerse option is checked off and if you have a paid sub, etc.

I'm not losing sound completely, but the audio of the game has gone so wonky/flat-sounding/off-key that it's nigh unplayable. It's like fun-house horror audio settings when I try and play, it's so distorted. Nothing I've done can fix it and it's only the game that's affected and I cannot for the life of me fix it. I'm doing a fresh install right now, but heavens help me it's going to be a long queue time just to get in by the time the fresh install is done... I tried installing the immerse just to see if it would help and it definitely DID NOT HELP.

Also just had an issue, where the sound was going in an out, but the action/voices were completely gone. Considering I play this game for the story as much as I play for the fun of it, I am forced to log out. Back in the 6k queue hell.

    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with server congestion on Final Fantasy XIV. Due to the recent release of Endwalker, we are experiencing an extremely high surge in player base which may result in long queue times and possible connection based errors. We are aware of this inconvenience and have addressed it in the following Lodestone post:

    https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...9264ac9f24986f

We also have compiled a list of current issues with the game including sound related ones here:

    https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...d6d790145bcf41

We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter and ask that you try again at a later time to see if the issue persists along with keeping an eye out on the Lodestone website when further updates will become available.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support forums!

I'm dealing with an audio crackling/popping/stuttering issue that happens periodically (more often than not) when playing on linux. I only really notice once I've gotten into the queue, and I frequently walk away when queueing. This is especially frustrating to troubleshoot since there's no way to reload the audio in game at all. If i restart my audio daemons (pipewire/jack2), ffxiv loses connection to my audio sinks and never tries to re-establish so i play without sound because i can't quit the game to reload it -- if i did, i wouldn't get to play at all that day (see long endwalker queue times).

It'd be nice to experience the game with sound. I know Soken and team worked really hard on it.

The issue sometimes happens at game launch, but most commonly is triggered by alt-tabbing. Also starts stuttering and popping in queue when the queue window refreshes to display a new number.

    Wine version: lutris-6.10-7-x86_64
    OS: Garuda Linux
    Version: Soaring (Harpy-Eagle)
    Kernel: 5.15.8-zen1-1-zen
    Host: X570 AORUS ELITE -CF
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X (32) @ 3.5GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
    Memory: 12.41GiB / 31.35GiB

If I catch it while I'm still in line, i can kill the process and relaunch. If i'm fast enough about it, I get back in the same spot. Thank you for allowing this! If i kill the process and relaunch after getting in, no matter how fast i am, i am put back into the back of the queue, which sucks.
