Wave emote during questline used from UI doesn't fulfill quest

NPC name: It's not an NPC but a shiny blue point on the ground. Story-wise, is Past Emet-Selch
Class/Level: MCH/86
Party or solo: Solo
Area and coordinates: Elpis, around X20.1, Y19.7, Z1.4 (where the quest blue dot on the ground is)


Playstation 5 console running the PS5 version of XIV (that is, NOT using ps4 build via backward compatibility function).


Steps:

1. Start quest Lv86 "Their Greatest Contribution" and follow the steps
2. One of the steps will be around point in Elpis, X20.1 Y19.7 Z1.4; quest asks to use Wave emote to wave to Emet-Selch which is mounted, in the air
3. As a console user without keyboard, when in need of emote to NPCs, I do the following: I press directional down to select myself, press Square to bring menu, select "Emote", then go to the emote list and press X to use the emote
4. Using the wave emote from the menu, the character makes the animation but at completing the animation, I get "Event Canceled" message and nothing happens.
5. Retrying the step 3 fared the same issue described in step 4.
6. Quest only proceeded when I used PS5 Virtual keyboard to type /wave.

Issue is: Quests, Leaves, etc from EW and other expansions that require you to emote to NPCs (e.g. Psych, Beckon, etc etc) all worked using the Emote UI described by step 3.
This quest in particular, always give "Event Cancelled" message.
