This is exactly what bothers me the most! I leveled up all the craft classes to be able to repair my own stuff. At the moment it's easier to ask someone else to repair the gear i'm wearing. ;_;I agree with the OP 100%. A majority of the repairs happen @ dungeons. Even though the repair system has been improved, it's still very cumbersome to have to switch classes for each item to be repaired, and as many have pointed out, the timer resets make this painful. It seems to me that if you have the required class and level, you should be able to repair items without changing your class.
In addition to this, it's more of a pain to repair all your own gear than someone elses. You have to unequip everything and go down thru your inventory to pick out what needs to be repaired, and you need to do this multiple times for each crafting class you're using to repair. You should be able to just repair all that you're wearing, or selected items without having to unequip everything.
Unlike some here, I actually don't mind the penalty for gear erosion. There needs to be some sort of penalty for death. However, the system needs some serious streamlining.

Would be better if you could repair all gear in your inv.
Make all recast timers freeze when changing jobs (rather than resetting). Your class and its recasts would be right there where you left them when you get back! If this were done it might be wise to set a shared recast for 15min abilities, though.
Repair and melding should just do the check to see if you have the required skill level for the repair and just do it, whether it is on yourself or repairing/melding for someone else. No need to do all this gear swapping.

As a player who has all crafts capped i find it weird that asking your friend to "repair all" is a lot faster than doing it yourself.
Would be nice if changing to DoH wasn't required to repair your own gear as long as your crafts are high enough.
Also another UI idea of mine is to add a feature that is common in emails - to mark certain items in your inventory and then chose to "repair all marked items" or "discard all marked items" or even "move all marked items to retainer" and so onHope this is not too much to ask, cause I'm sure many players would enjoy this

I would love this change, I dont craft but i can see how much of a pain it is for buddies to reapair all my gear switching to like 4 different classes

I think it would be sufficient that if you have the tools in your inventory and are of the correct level, you shouldn't have to change class to repair stuff. That way you can satisfy someone's repair-all request without having to change 4 different times to fix their stuff.

I like the repair system. I find it a good way for a crafting class at a lower level to make money as some 25-30 armor is in the range of 15-20. We can't really sell anything in that level range.

Did you even read the thread ?
That just stupid, why would I waste a perfectly good leve to correct a flaw in the repair mechanics.
The length people will go to, to justify broken game elements is mind blowing.
OK EVERYONE - before you do garuda make sure you have a faction leve at the ready just in case. /sigh

I have. If you have also you would know that earlier before my post suggest removing repairs all together. My point was more of a reply to that person more than a reply to everyone.
