"Visit other world server" feature has never worked for me...

I thought this was to be a solution to queues? I saw a video where youtuber "Arthar" just clicked on it and the game assigned him to a random, less populated server and his queue went from several thousand to just 29. I always get the message this is unavailable. Any key to get this working?

You misunderstand what is going on, or the streamer doesn't understand ... or the streamer is deliberately misrepresenting what is going on so that everyone's eyes will pop and viewers will increase.

In order to use the world visit feature, you must first log in to your home world, and wait in the regular queue like everyone else.

The world visit feature doesn't "assign you to a randomly less populated server," so I dunno what the streamer was saying or doing, but there is no feature to be randomly assigned to another server at all, let alone based on some criteria like population. (The sole exception would be when you initially create a character, the system will suggest a server for "new players" which is generally less populated. But that's only for new character creation.)

The world visit feature simply gives you a menu. You then choose another server and it moves you there temporarily. This isn't a permanent move by any means; if your home world is server A, and you do a world visit to server B and then logout, when you log back in you must log into server A. World visits are temporary; they're meant for you to perhaps check the market board for better deals than your home server, or to go hunt down a specific rare, or to play with friends. They're not tied into login queues, nor do they provide any way to skip a queue - you need to already be logged in to use the feature.

Now, what the streamer probably did is log into their preferred world, saw a queue of several thousand, quit that queue and then proceeded to log into another, less populated server. I play on Goblin and my queues have rarely been higher than 200 since EW early access went live. At the same time I see people complaining about queues of 6,000 or what have you... so there is a massive difference in queue times based on what server you play on.

Side note: the entire world-visit feature has not been functioning that well since early access launched... obviously, if there are people sitting in the queue trying to log into their home world, they're going to be given priority over someone doing a temporary visit to that world. So, if you're interested in using that feature, you might try it, but be prepared for it to either not function, or for the visit to take a long time to complete.

I believe that on certain data centres it is disabled (EU specifically) because it doesn’t matter which server you’re on. They’re all jam packed. Where’s as some JP servers have smaller populations than the more high pop ones. Tonberry for example had a 28k active players at the last census in October where as a low pop server was only 13k. In the EU it’s relatively equal across all servers. I hope this helps

Impressive confidence, especially when you're completely wrong.

You can world visit from the character select screen and it will send you to another server. You don't get to choose and I assume it picks the one with the lowest load.

World visiting from the character select screen seems to disable itself when congestion is high, which is probably why it never worked for OP.

Which makes this feature pretty pointless, because among other things, in one of the last articles before early access, this feature was advertised for such situations. I can't think of any other reason when you might need it.

I suspect it was designed for situations where a popular streamer logs into a particular server making just that one overloaded.

World visit was introduced when the queues were less busy. Some worlds were constantly busy some other (newer) ones on the same data centre were not. That is what it allowed - people to spread the load if they wanted to by visiting another world to quest.

However, when all worlds are full there is no advantage to the world visit as it cannot spread the load due to all worlds being overloaded. It's not broken - it's working as designed but what SE needs is to take delivery of the new servers and press ahead with the the plans they announced so long ago but have been delayed due to well known circumstances which we really do not need to go over yet again.

Before EA I've spread my 5 chars over the data centre.

On multiple days I've compared the queues during prime time between the worlds and there were huge differences.

The range was from around 2k on the lowest, up to 9k on the highest.

So this feature could help to spread the load in these situations too.

This is incorrect. As part of the preparation for server congestion, SE suggested utilizing the World Visit feature implemented directly from the character selection screen. The option is there, however it gets disabled when all worlds are congested (obviously).

The misleading part isn't that the feature exists, but rather that it is an actual fix. It only helps if your own server has a long queue while others have shorter queues, as it will automatically place you into a shorter one.

Japanese Servers yield the kindest players I have ever encountered...this could be because I do not understand Japanese in which case my ignorance is bliss lol. jk <3 kupo
