Okay, mysteriously, I could login today with no problems and no VPN, for the first time in nearly two months. I have no idea how this occurred, I didn't do anything special before it worked. I hope it continues to work, but I'll keep this post updated if it comes back again.

five days later, I mysteriously cannot login again. I cannot access the lodestone or the log into the mogstation nor get access to the game through the regular client. I now must use a vpn to start the game again. I really wish I knew how to proceed.
