(Serious Question) Why does the ffxiv community HATE Midlander Hyur Females so much?

I know I'm going to get a lot of flak for this but I find every race other than Hyurs to be strange and off-putting.

I sort of agree, though I enjoy seeing them in the world, I can't imagine playing something else. I tried cat boy then Elezen, the two other races that interested me and I just couldn't get used to it. Also, I started as a highlander, but around StB I became a midlander because I got tired of looking like a Neanderthal.

I started a Hyur Midlander female to start, mostly as a tribute to another character I liked from the past, and played her for 5 months or so.

Never heard these insults. If anything, I got WAY more whispers, commendations and overall attention as her than I did and do as a male Au Ra and now Bun Bro.

It's just that Catgirls have way better animations and are far more expressive. They also look cuter.

Honestly I was Elezen as my main for years, changed to aura because the damn emotes... those damn emotes XD

Fairly new to the game so cant say its something I've encountered personally and going by the replies on here it doesnt seem all that common.

If I had to guess I'd say its probably like some D&D games I've been in where people take it far too seriously dont like how some players decide to play a plain, boring or basic humans when we live in a magical fantasy realm where you can be anything you want. Its considered rude to tell a player how to play their character but for some reason this casual racism (speciesism?) is perfectly ok.

If you really want to get a reaction be sure to tell these people "not only am I a human I'm a straight white male one....who only sees the world in shades of humans or monsters, if you're not a human you're just another monster!"

I would have been a Hyur Middie Fem in a heartbeat, and was for awhile. Two things broke me:

1) The Princess run - My god I cannot express of awful watching a badass warrior of light do a fairy run is.
2) Riding Sidesaddle - See above.

They are literally the Benchmark for "popular female race" in this game. They are very well liked.

I notice a lot of people in the game will make comments about how hyur mid girls are
“Generic”
“ditzy”
“Annoying pretty girl”
“Annoying run animation”
“Ugh the crafter race”


Anyone know why the hate for them? Personally Viera, middies, and cats are my favorites.

Mostly because they look extreme generic and everyone uses the same face.

Before I went Viera, all I ever heard from people was "Oh of cOuRsE there's a naked catboy" or some other ridiculous complaint.

Never hear anyone complaining about hyur. But now that we're talking about it, I can't understand picking the most bland options.

Imo Hyurs are kinda of bland, not horrible... Just ok. But I never saw anyone hating on them.
