I have been playing steam games that I just have not had the time to play due to my love for this game. Halo Infinite may be on the books this evening lol. <3 kupo

Kupo!

Hah, yeah, I had to force myself to continue going to the gym and keep telling myself "I can always wake up early to play it tomorrow", when I do get in the queue during the night, I kinda have to pay constant attention to the game so I don't take to long to relog after 2002.
Not at all! What i mean is, I have found in myself, and a good number of others who I have talked too about it, that due too the long ques, people dont want to take breaks to do normal tasks we would have in our routine's.
When you have to wait 1-6 hours to get in game, when you finally do, you dont want to step away to do vital things like eating, showering or any other tasks that are normal like sleep, one person i spoke too had been awake 3 days strait (Before the last maint forced them offline), in extreme cases It can result in damage to relationships (As i heard one case of) due to the desire to get as much time in, while you can instead of engaging etc.
Allowing these ques to happen is irresponsible and reckless from a gaming company's position.
Now, that comment is not directed at Yoshi-P nor the FFXIV dev team, I know you guys have done everything in your power, this comes down to an ongoing problem with SE for a long time now, They just dont want to invest more than they have too in the game unless things hit the fan.
They knew long before the shortage that the game needed new servers to grow but instead decided to toss the server money at their shareholders or whoever.
But back to the topic at hand.
I dont know how you guys (SE etc) will do it, but for the sake of your players health, both mental, physical and social, You need to find some solution to this problem before things really start to impact your rep beyond the forum's.
Right now its mostly quiet grumbles, but all it would take is one story to hit the gaming community of the que times resulting in the ruining of someone's health in some way for that to blow up.
Its taken a lot of myself to step away from the game when i have had too, But not everyone's got the ability to put real life ahead of not being able to log in in a timely manner.
No.
Zalera let's me in whenever I desire.
So, ya, ok?
If you stay up 3 days to play, that is on you. During early access I managed to play every day even though I logged out to sleep since I got up early, all food was the easy and quick to make sort which I was able to be eat while playing. So really, staying up 3 days to play is not on SE and honestly not something you need to do.
If you let the game damage IRL relationships that is also on you and not SE. I made sure everyone knew that during early access I would no-life the game, I prepared for that like a normal person, I took time off and made sure what I could get done was done at work and at home.
These problems are a sign of a need to grow up and seek help, not the long queues.
There is some ring of truth, but, it really does come down to personal coping skills, not the company. But, yes, when I was on last night, I was more paranoid that someone was going to report me afk or make a big stink if I sat still in game for a period of time. So, when I found myself doing tasks, I stayed logged in, but would come back and move a little or talk to something so I can take the dog out, dishes, vacuuming, etc. So, I was always rushing back and forth between babysitting the screen and chores. If I logged out and wanted to continue playing for the night, by the time I got to play again, it would have been time for bed(because we still need that). I forced my husband to wrap presents in the computer room just so I could help and play at the same time. But, what game hasn't affected us psychologically at some point, because that's a huge chunk of gaming. This game is my therapy away from work, it's the way I relax away from the real world. I could play GW2, but THIS game is what I find therapeutic at THIS point, but I'm coping and I'm still married, this game hasn't ruined that for me at least.

This is a you problem. This is an addiction and I think you need to step away from the game for a few months to sort your priorities out.
Allow it to happen? What are they going to do about it? They can't just "let you in".
Sounds like it is.
Or maybe; and bare with me now; the pandemic that's been going on for the last two years has causes a supply shortage. It's not just gaming hardware. Steel is in short supply. There are hundreds of container ships stuck in the ocean that can't dock to unload any product. This isn't a "Ugh, we'd rather give our money to our shareholders!" thing. It's a "We have no parts!" thing.
And then you proceed to not offer any solutions.. You just scream into the void "FIX IT!!!" and walk away. You're not helping matters.
And then you go threatening them.. Because you want to play your favourite video game..
You need to get your priorities straight. There's nothing Square can do about it other than mandate the amount of time you can play within 24 hours. Ie. You account is only able to log in for 4 hours within the next 24 hours. That would cut down on the queue's and allow for more people to log in, and it would also force people to log off after only 4 hours which would force them to live their life.
But that would open up a BIG can of legal worms for them. And they definitely don't want to deal with that mess.
Ps. If your "friend" can't step away from their computer, that's not Square's problem. You could have the exact same addiction to candy crush. This isn't a Square problem. This is a "you need to grow up" problem.

When I have long queues, I read a book while I wait for 2002.

I suggest OP and their friends to move to China, its leader is very conscious about the effect of online gaming to your well being and will REGULATE your playtime in the best of your interest, since it seems you are not be able to do that yourself.
There is a term for what you describe, and no it's not mental illness or psychology problem. It's called NEET - a behavior problem. Stop trying to cast yourself as the victim in order to escape personal responsibility.
