Anyone else finding the long ques psychologically bad?

What i mean is, I have found in myself, and a good number of others who I have talked too about it, that due too the long ques, people dont want to take breaks to do normal tasks we would have in our routine's.

When you have to wait 1-6 hours to get in game, when you finally do, you dont want to step away to do vital things like eating, showering or any other tasks that are normal like sleep, one person i spoke too had been awake 3 days strait (Before the last maint forced them offline), in extreme cases It can result in damage to relationships (As i heard one case of) due to the desire to get as much time in, while you can instead of engaging etc.

Allowing these ques to happen is irresponsible and reckless from a gaming company's position.
Now, that comment is not directed at Yoshi-P nor the FFXIV dev team, I know you guys have done everything in your power, this comes down to an ongoing problem with SE for a long time now, They just dont want to invest more than they have too in the game unless things hit the fan.
They knew long before the shortage that the game needed new servers to grow but instead decided to toss the server money at their shareholders or whoever.

But back to the topic at hand.
I dont know how you guys (SE etc) will do it, but for the sake of your players health, both mental, physical and social, You need to find some solution to this problem before things really start to impact your rep beyond the forum's.
Right now its mostly quiet grumbles, but all it would take is one story to hit the gaming community of the que times resulting in the ruining of someone's health in some way for that to blow up.

Its taken a lot of myself to step away from the game when i have had too, But not everyone's got the ability to put real life ahead of not being able to log in in a timely manner.

I don't think there is a practical solution other than just time. I actually don't think it is them not wanting to buy servers at a markup; I actually do think that there are just no servers that they can buy. Chip shortage is real. Yoshi P even said they tried to get more servers but just couldn't; even stated that they were willing to pay the marked up prices.

Referring back to talks in 2017 about the game needing new servers for growth, SE rejected it.

That, uh.... wasn't about adding servers. That was about DC split from Chaos into Chaos+Light (which also happened to come with one new server for each onboard, but servers themselves absolutely couldn't increase queue times as cross-world DF was already a thing).

Take what jab? How is a VIDEO GAME responsible for someone not being able to control their own basic health and upkeep? That's a deeper, individualistic problem that is NOT the game's fault. That's an addictive personality that needs help. A well balanced grown adult would not forgo showering, eating, sleeping, and all the things that are basic and fundamental to *living* to play a video game. If they are, they have so many deeper issues and desperately need intervention and to seek the proper healthcare that they need.

The game is not forcing you, strapped to your chair, to play it. You do not HAVE to sit in the queue. You could choose to walk away. You could choose to play at different times when the queue isn't bad. You have CHOICE.

That can 100% be a game's fault lmao, how many companies have spent millions in research to human behaviour. To see how people work and how exactly they can keep you addicted to their game and milk you for everything you are worth, EA conducted research to see how they could use matchmaking to reduce churn they found that letting you win too much was bad for them so you can get games that are doomed to fail because they WANT you to lose so you keep playing for that next win, they will keep you as close to 50/50 win rate as they can.
You see predatory game practice's everywhere nowadays. Plenty perfectly functioning adults can find themselves addicted without realising due to game's and the companies behind them purposefully doing everything they can to condition you to play everyday without fail. Korean MMO's such as BDO have log in rewards per hour and if you want every one then enjoy being logged in a MINIMUM 5 hours a day. The pressure is even more intense in a game like that since it is vastly more competitve.
To say a game cannot cause such behaviour is ignorant, predatory companies literally design them to hook you in without care for any negatives to yourself be it financial or physical.

SE is not forcing anyone to sit in queue or stay on for prolonged periods but the conditions we are currently under promote such bad behaviour as you are essentially punished for taking a break with a long long queue. So it is no shock that players will try and make the best use of the time that they CAN get. Spoilers from content creators are just a ticking time bomb as is social media, holidays where people have family commitments are otw. Many many other pressures can be at play coupled with the long queue to make people make poorer choices for their health. And I am sure the devs are well aware of this.

Sorry, but I'll still have to respectfully disagree. I have many family members who struggled with addiction problems to various things. If a video game is causing that addiction, cut out the video game from your life. It's a conscious choice to want to be better. When something is dictating your life that it causes your life to become harmed, it's time to step back and fix the problem with yourself. Lean on others in your life for support.
