Anyone else finding the long ques psychologically bad?

What i mean is, I have found in myself, and a good number of others who I have talked too about it, that due too the long ques, people dont want to take breaks to do normal tasks we would have in our routine's.

When you have to wait 1-6 hours to get in game, when you finally do, you dont want to step away to do vital things like eating, showering or any other tasks that are normal like sleep, one person i spoke too had been awake 3 days strait (Before the last maint forced them offline), in extreme cases It can result in damage to relationships (As i heard one case of) due to the desire to get as much time in, while you can instead of engaging etc.

Allowing these ques to happen is irresponsible and reckless from a gaming company's position.
Now, that comment is not directed at Yoshi-P nor the FFXIV dev team, I know you guys have done everything in your power, this comes down to an ongoing problem with SE for a long time now, They just dont want to invest more than they have too in the game unless things hit the fan.
They knew long before the shortage that the game needed new servers to grow but instead decided to toss the server money at their shareholders or whoever.

But back to the topic at hand.
I dont know how you guys (SE etc) will do it, but for the sake of your players health, both mental, physical and social, You need to find some solution to this problem before things really start to impact your rep beyond the forum's.
Right now its mostly quiet grumbles, but all it would take is one story to hit the gaming community of the que times resulting in the ruining of someone's health in some way for that to blow up.

Its taken a lot of myself to step away from the game when i have had too, But not everyone's got the ability to put real life ahead of not being able to log in in a timely manner.

I don't think there is a practical solution other than just time. I actually don't think it is them not wanting to buy servers at a markup; I actually do think that there are just no servers that they can buy. Chip shortage is real. Yoshi P even said they tried to get more servers but just couldn't; even stated that they were willing to pay the marked up prices.

no offense... but you are an adult right?

if you are, and I am assuming you are... you are responsible for your life choices.

its a game. take responsibility for your decisions. a queue is no excuse

Referring back to talks in 2017 about the game needing new servers for growth, SE rejected it.

New servers, like the OCE data center planned early last year that was hit with delays? If they can't get hardware with planning that far in advance, what makes you think they could've done anything better about the situation?

When a video game is removing basic upkeep functions of your real life such as eating, showering, grooming and sleeping... You have a much larger issue on hand other than FF14's queue times being long and the log-in servers having issues.

That's a sign that it's time to take a step back, and put your health at the top of your priority list.

EDIT: It's not SE's, the dev team's, or anyone responsibility how you choose to live your life, other than yourself.

I think long queues and gaming addictions are not related in anyway shape or form.
If some one stays up 3 days straight playing a video game, it is likely because they have a problem not because of long queues. I will almost guarantee that same person that stayed awake 3 days straight has done so for every expansion launch.
Now I am sure there are people that try to max out game time as long as possible when they get past the queue, but IMO those are individuals showing symptoms of a gaming addition. The long queue time would just be there excuse. They can just as easily wake up earlier to avoid the queue and play shorter sessions.
Long queues are not causing any issues to peoples mental health, FFXIVs dev team, SE, or any other video game company has very little to do with your mental health. In the end this is a video game you are responsible for your own life and you make your own decision. If anything I think it is showing how many people have a gaming addiction.
This thread is as dumb of a subject as do violent games cause violent people. You should be ashamed to try and relate a problem with logging into a video game to mental health issues.

I have no 2002 since day 2. Having a good ISP and wired connection helps.

If I sit in someone's shoes playing NA servers, I would do these.

    - Estimate when you'll get in and queue early (and check for errors)
    - Queue early with remote desktop or Teamviewer if I'm working. Periodically check for errors.
    - Ask friends or neighbours or relatives to help you queue early
    - Watch videos or play other games if I queue on the spot at peak hours
    - Try Japanese servers and play alts. I can tolerate 100-300ms ping. They are sleeping at peak hours.
