Summoner Pets Not Gaining Full Damage From Potency

    Date & Time: December 9th, 2021
    Frequency: Always
    World name: Jenova
    Character name: Tina Sprout
    Class/Level: 90

    All other information not applicable.

Summoner pets are not doing proper damage. The math we have is as follows:

Akh Morn is 1300 potency and is doing on average 22000 damage on a non directhit non crit. Ruin 4 is 430 potency and is doing on average 9500 damage on a non direct hit non crit.

If we take the potency per damage and calculate it we come to the conclusion that the damage multiplier on the summoner is 1.3 times higher than their pet:

    22000/1300 = 16.92 (Akh Morn/Potency)
    9500/430 = 22.09 (Ruin 4/Potency)
    22.09/16.92 = 1.305

Another test was to apply RDM's Scorch (680 potency) damage vs Summoner's primal summon's initial hit (700 potency).

The average Scorch damage gathered on non directhit non crit is 16300. The average damage from the primal attacks is 12900.

    16300/680 = 23.97 (Scorch/Potency)
    12900/700 = 18.43 (Primal Summons/Potency)
    23.97/18.43 = 1.300

In both examples we see that the potency of pet damage is not being calculated the same as the rest of the damage that casters do.

This coincidentally points to the damage that pets are supposed to gain from Maim and Mend II. I am not sure that this is the reason for the damage differences but this would make the most sense. Either way summoner damage is lower than intended if the potency numbers are to be trusted.

EDIT: After checking the ratio between Summoner and Pet in Shadowbringers, the ratio now is worse in terms of pet damage, meaning pets do even less damage per potency than they did in Shadowbringers.
