    it's really frustrating that they did a promo for a single country (the US) which isn't even available to many due to living in areas that don't have grubhub drivers or whatever. honestly the same with the butterfinger one.

    it's just... not cool that i, as a canadian, basically don't get to participate even though the NA data centre was in Quebec of all places for many years before moving to its current location in the US. i don't want to have to send an american friend some cash for them to send me a code for an emote that now isn't even available in the online store.

    You're not missing much, except getting your hopes up just to find out it was mostly a scam.

    i mean yeah, hindsight and all that jazz. it's just... well. it seems odd to exclude people from participating including people in the only country that are -able- to participate in the first place.

    I have to agree, these limited country promotions are not ideal, Australia/New Zealand have never had any.

    But the GrubHub one, for those few players that could enter, was clearly a complete omnishambles.

    I do hope SE can learn from it and move away from these shady limited area promotions with dodgy, and seemingly untrustworthy companies, so that players on ALL FOUR datacentres can enjoy them.

    I hope they add the emote to the store at some point because even as someone in the U.S. I was unable to participate with grubhub being such a shitty service they have zero support in my entire area. Really terrible promotion.

    Got my code yesterday after some very long back and forth. They told me to wait for a month but I think they were just trying to give me the run around.

    Here's what I'd recommend:

    1. Have your order number ready, the date, etc. You will not get through without proof of purchase.

    2. The moment you get to chatting with a rep, tell him/her what's up and ask that your ticket be escalated to whoever is in charge of the codes. Skips you a conversation.

    3. They will most likely tell you that you were not eligible because [insert excuse]. Fight them on it but stay polite. In my case they went as far as lying and told me I'd applied the wrong code. I ordered from the Lodestone's link. The one that auto-applies the code, so guess what I did? Pulled up the Endwalker promo page's link with auto-apply and told them to try it. I also went as far as to tell them it's no coincidence I ordered when I did, from where I did, and all that to drive the point home.

    4. If they refuse to budge (though I doubt they will resist that much) ask what can be done, it's your code or a refund. I'm certain they'd rather give you a code they can STILL GENERATE (I'm pretty sure anyway) rather than lose out on X amount of dollars.

    5. Pizza.

    Just don't be surprised if they try to pull a fast one on you and be ready to prove or make an argument as to why/how you weren't in the wrong.

    Has Yoshi P or the team responded to this issue yet? For how can we trust that we wont get screwed over in the future when GH says the issue is on SE side?

    They did not. I honestly do not think they care.

    The only takeaway for players like us is to avoid taking part in any future crossover promotions between Square Enix and other companies for any digital item/code, unless you already have an established trusting relationship with whatever company happens to be involved in the crossover. E.g. I've had a lot of positive experiences with L.L. Bean. If they did a crossover with FFXIV (unlikely, lmao), I'd be willing to give it a go.

    My spouse and I are both extremely hesitant, though, to trust any digital crossover thing moving forward because SE responded to us approximately 10 times saying they wouldn't do anything to fix or handle the situation. I'm just still glad that we got fully refunded from Grubhub for both orders, getting back approx $90 cash. We will never, ever use them again, and if you want a laugh, we write and mail a new year's letter to all of our friends and family, and in this year's letter, we included a section warning them all to avoid using Grubhub because they're scam artists. (Not only did they screw us out of the emotes, but my spouse's order was from a fake restaurant that they didn't even vet, lmfao. I warned all my relatives/friends about this!! But I have to say it was hilarious and we still joke about the "restaurant." It was actually some random convenience market using a fake name on Grubhub, and all of the menu images were actually stolen from various restaurant web sites around the United States. I laughed so hard.)

    Anyway, the other important thing is to warn other players every time any future crossover comes up by doing things like responding to this thread to keep it current in the forums and to post on instagram, twitter, etc. to spread the word warning others and reminding them that you were screwed over in the last crossover and they might be the ones screwed over in the next.

    I hope that you at least got refunded from grubhub during the time window. If you didn't, I think your recourse at this point is pretty much non-existent.

    For everyone who was screwed over by Grubhub during the emote campaign, I thought you might find it interesting and potentially uplifting, to see this news. I know it made me smile.
