Can you please add a button to restart the sound engine?

    Hi,

    I'm a patient person.
This is the 5th day in a row that I had to stop questing because of this bug.
    Charging headphone -> Sound gone.
Screen turns off -> Sound gone
Doing anything in windows settings -> Sound gone
Just randomly while playing -> SOUND GONE

Every day around 16:00 I can no longer quest because the queue is too insane long.
    BECAUSE THE SOUND IS GONE.

(And I am certainly not the only one.. more than 5 of 10 friends of mine experience this issue... and then... you put up an ad to pay money for better sound?)

Add a button to restart the sound engine if you're unable to fix this.

It's only gotten worse from expansion to expansion...

    Current Workaround
Doing the following has fixed this issue for a lot of people. It appears that after the Endwalker update, the audio device set for Combat sounds was either missing or set to a non-primary device. Switching the device to something else then back to the correct device forces the audio device to be updated correctly.
In Windows 10: Sound Settings > Sound > Advanced Sound Options "App volume and device preferences" > Find "Final Fantasy XIV" in the list and change the "Output" device (top entry) to anything other than what it is currently set to, then BACK to what it is intended to be to.
I've had the 'sound disappearing issue' since... as far as I can recall. Disconnecting headphone, connecting headphone, or simply out of the blue like you mention. I alt-tab for 5 minutes to check something, poof, it's gone. The workaround above has worked for me very consistently. Hopefully it eases your frustrations until they sort it out.

    Yeah thats not working.
The sound engine dies. However changing the equalizer to "Standard" does revive the BGM (barely and often stuttering).
    It's still unacceptable.
Every single day since launch.. the queue and sound issues murder my questing.
