My healer friends were remarking about how little they feel they need to heal in the endgame dungeons just the other day. I think that it's the same effect we saw at the start of SHB; Almost no-one is overgeared for the new content, so it feels like things hit a lot harder. That'll quickly change as time goes on.

Except that I'm noticing the same in old content as well. I've been having to resort to GCD heals in dungeons I previously didn't have to. Everyone was isynced as well, so no; I don't think that's what we're dealing with this time.

Last night an NM Alexander raid had an unavoidable AoE take down my isynced Sage when I was a little over 50%. I normally would survive that AoE so I did not heal myself. That is just one of several examples I have of players dying because I didn't top them up when I normally didn't need to.

That's disappointing to read because it's what I feared. I know it was the same effect at the start of ShB and was hoping this time they've resolved an issue with gear disparity. I'll still see for myself and when I get there and find it's as you say, then my biggest bit of feedback for healers this expansion will be to solve the iLevel disparity. They refuse to do the easy solution the healer forums have been pushing for in the entirety of Shadowbringers and YoshiP has stated as such, but this would at least fit their vision more.

The biggest issue for healing I feel is that:
The jobs are designed best to be more healing focused and less DPS focused.
The content is more DPS focused and less healing focused.

So naturally these two principles don't work together and end in monotony. And they won't adjust the job to better manage the DPS focus, so the content ought shift its focus. And seemingly it does until people are geared.

This is generally how it is at the beginning of expansions. People aren't geared to the nines for trivial content, they take more damage, so you spend more time healing. It was worse at the beginning of shadowrbringers, me thinks.

Some things do hit harder (ultimates, this has been confirmed by multiple people that several things in atleast two hit harder), I also noticed some allliance raids (namely the 70 ones) are taking longer to kill so it means more healing because you're seeing more mechanics.

With going into EW pretty much as a blind whm, I feel as though I've failed more parties than I can count. It feels like SE is demanding that I spam nothing but heals and no dps, and that I should know the mechanics beforehand since they've been used in previous raids/dungeons. And yet, I've died to them, repeatedly in a few cases.

    It feels so wrong now.

This one is beyond your help. Only sleep can save her now.

EW leveling dungeons are a lot more forgiving than ShB in my experience. I haven't had any close to a wipe kind of situation on big pulls, while back to ShB, Holminster could turn into a real disaster in a few minutes only.
So far, I've noticed that AoEs hit for a lot more, but it's probably because of gear. Also, tanks stacking vuln debuffs are actually harder to heal than before.

I feel that PLDs are squishier than what I would have expected, meanwhile, WAR are real berserkers. They barely need heals in lvl 90 dungeons. They are walking beasts. I haven't been paired with enough GNB or DRK to compare though.

I think a little more healing is requiered than before, but overall, the dungeons are easier on tanks, so it kinda balance it out.

The difference between a level 81 Tank and a level 82 tank in the 1st dungeon is quite surprising due to the upgraded CD trait tanks get that makes them a hell of a lot more sturdy.
My 1st run on SCH of the dungeon with a level 82 PLD was vastly different than the level 81 GNB that followed. The PLD required minimal healing that my oGCDs alone could handle fine. The GBN almost died on several pulls even after I spent all my oGCDs and resorted to spamming Adlo to keep up.

As a tank, the EW dungeons feel pretty easy. The 90 dungeons specifically seem to only have, at most, double pulls. So there’s really not too many “massive” threatening pulls. Of course, PLD did receive quite a bit of passive healing during spell phase but still.

So seeing this thread about healers struggling does come as a surprise.

Ofcourse leveling dungeons can be hit or miss depending on tanks level, gear, and skill level.

I read somewhere that this expac will make healers heal more.
How does a tank “overpull” exactly? Please explain?
