Error 2002 Workaround

Hello all, sorry if this is known, but I found a way around error 2002 that I wanted to share.

It is babysitting the queue, so it's a pain if you have a really long queue, but this has worked for me every time so far (not to say that this will cover every possible root cause of a 2002). If your internet seems fine and this isn't one of those situations that Yoshi P talked about regarding the max queue on the server being hit, this workaround should work.

I noticed that the 2002 error seems to happen at any point between 15 and 30 minutes. Never (for me) before that if I'm in queue. No longer than 30ish minutes before it hits. So the workaround:

1) Login to Lobby, select character, enter world.
2) Wait 10 minutes or less. Any more than that and you risk hitting the error at 15 minutes.
3) At 10 minutes in the queue, launch another game client.
4) Login to lobby (note, you may get the 2002 error here in this second client, but your first client will still be in queue - keep trying until you get to select your character).
5) Join the queue in the second client. You'll be in the queue at the same spot on both clients!
6) On the first client that's been open for 10ish minutes, close the game. You can click cancel and select leave queue, that's fine. You're still in the queue in your 2nd client. I close my 1st client here to avoid any issues with possible connection to lobby still being open.
7) Wait 10 minutes or less, and repeat the process until you get into game.

This has worked consistently for me, and I hope it helps you.

While I appreciate the workaround. Long-term I don't recommend this at all. Duplicating clients leads to more strain on the servers and could actually cause them to crash entirely if a large critical mass of people all start doing this.

OR...they could just make a reliable queue that remembers your spot for more than 5 seconds if you get kicked out.

Although, with a "reliable" queue you wouldn't get kicked out in the first place.

Lucky you! I 2002'd twice in the last hour and lost my spot both times even though I logged back in within seconds of it happening.

I have received the 2002 errors but I have never lost my spot after signing back in and sometimes I've had continuous error outs before actually getting back in queue, during primetime. Not sure if thats a PC only benefit or it doesn't matter. All my FC mates and friends on Gilgamesh for example, get hit with 2002's during primetime when logging in but none have reportedly lost a spot.

Been waiting in queue for a couple of hours now and I'm close to the end. But because I'm fairly exhausted and actually wouldn't mind if I got booted at this point, I decided to tempt fate and leave the queue intentionally then rejoin. It kept my spot in line and doing it every now and then, I stopped seeing the 2002 error every 15 minutes. So maybe this is an easier way, just drop queue and re-enter. It does keep your spot in line.

EDIT: Well although I did have nearly an hour of uninterrupted queueing by leaving and rejoining, one try did give me a 2002 and I actually thought I was screwed, but I did get back in and it kept my place. I would advise not doing this method if you're sub 200 in the queue just in case. Otherwise it definitely seemed to make things smoother and avoids the problem of adding extra instances to the queue.
