Song/Ballad of Oblivion - Bard and Enwalker Ending Speculations (Spoiler Obviously)

    Was this on purpose?

If you do the Bard HW Questline you go on an adventure with 3 NPCs (one a moogle) to discover something known as the 'Ballad of Oblivion.' A song that has the power to bring battles to an end, and later said to be a Coerthan legend of saint in the HEAVENS (space?) who has mastery and can use it to end battles.

Long story short, you find a sealing stone where a fiend that is a harpy siren (bird person) used her voice to do just that, destroy things, and this is the ballad sought.

    ... Now parallels.
    Saint in the HEAVENS.
    Bird person.
    Literal name of the song.

Did Square just re-use the plot, is Meteion the real harpy it's based off of, did Venat as Hydaelyn let something slip that turned into this legend or ... what is the connection here?

I thought about it too. I don't know how it is in English, but in French, the bard quest calls it the 'song of the apocalypse'. And the events in EW are referred to as the song of the apocalypse as well.
Also, another detail: which weapon is Hythlodaeus using?
Could Hythlo's lost memory from Elpis be somehow stored in the bard soul crystals?

I completely missed that despite leveling BRD only recently!

It's probably just a coincidence but I could very easily see some headcanoning about it being an influence of some forgotten memory of the Final Days.

Or could be a hint passed down by hydelin, which significance shifted through the pass of time (conversation about this matter is talked with yhstola)

Hythlodaeus is using the Bow of the Wanderer (Link to Eorzea DB), which is the same one as Guydelot from the Bard quests uses.

On the original topic, I was also reminded of the Ballad of Oblivion when the Song of Oblivion came up. Since I'm not completely done with the MSQ, yet, I haven't thought about it more, since I thought the potential connection might get explained. It is definately interesting that both are called the same in the French version.

You may be on to something.

The legend of it was a Coerthan myth. Coerthas was man and dragon at one point. Midgardsormr was close to Hydaelyn, it's possible she told him and as stories and rumors go, it changed over time so when this harpy showed up and used its voice to destroy things, someone that knew the legend named it the same as Meteions, thinking it was hers or what they know of her 'bird girl' 'feathered girl' girl of the sky' any sort of descriptor that would have made the siren mistaken for her.
