(6.0 Spoilers) Endwalker will be your last expansion?

The only reason I always come back to FFXIV is because of the MSQ and now that Square Enix finished 11 years of story in the best possible way I feel like the next expansions will be just "filler", does anyone feel the same way?

I am grateful to Yoshi-P and all the staff for creating such a beautiful world and the best story I have ever seen in a video game, I enjoyed every moment of my almost 8 years of living in Eorzea and I hope that future expansions will live up to SHB and EW.

I think I'll wait until the final EW patch to make a decision.

I don't remember the exact source but I am fairly certain that they said that EW will conclude the Hydalyn vs Zodiark story and will start a new plot with further patches and expansions.

Yeah Yoshi P did say that Also they wont start working on a new MMORPG until they are fully finished with Final Fantasy 16. since Final Fantasy 14 didn't come out not until Final fantasy 13 was completed finished. It took 2 main line Final Fantasy to be realised before they started working on 14. And Final fantasy 11 servers only closed down I think early this year.

Frankly I would welcome a shift to less interdependent story telling. Regardless, FF14 is the only MMO that even approaches the level of quality I expect from a service that wants me to pay monthly. There aren't any other MMO's that I feel are worth playing much less paying for.

Until there's a viable contender or Square itself faces some crisis I don't see myself playing anything else.

Are you from the future? I'm not being flippant. FF11 has been getting regular updates the last several years and apparently still chugging along.

6.0 was the conclusion of the Zodiark/Hydaelyn/Ascian storyline. Yoshida said that they were not finished with XIV’s story yet, just this chapter. I believe during one of the PPLs (or it could have been during the 6.0 Media Tour), they mentioned already having ideas up to 7.0. 6.x will be setting up those events, I wager. But XIV isn’t over yet, even if this chapter has reached its end.

I could be wrong since I’m not a former FFXI player, but pretty sure the servers for XI are still up and running. There’s even an XI Lodestone post about free trials dated November 2021.

XI is alive and well. They are planning for the 20th anniversary next year.

FFXI did not shut down. The game is up and running and gets plenty of patches.

As it goes for me. I've been here for 6,5 years now. Enjoying every expansion. I didnt think they could top shadowbringers but they did in my opinion. Eorzea is my second home and i am not leaving until my pc dies, my priorities shift drastically irl or the servers go down. Quote me on that, i dare you

In stormblood when the majority didnt want Whitemage for example. I was loyal to the job, all the way from ARR to now, as my main job doing the MSQ.

I can understand people leaving, cause they think its dull or bad or whatever it is. Everyone has a different mindset and different opinions and expectations. What we really need to do sometimes is respect und accept that.
Endwalker is the end of a 10-11 year story arc and won't be the last for me.
