Ive been playin a fair amount of games in the past ?? years with open PVP.
And not a single one was good.
We dont need that type of stuff in FFXIV, we already have PVP.
Greetz,

There's nothing funny about games where people mind their own bussiness and someone randomly kills them just cause xD
I hope not. I do wish however they'd do things more like WoWs battlegrounds. I know they have a few kindaish ones but I'd love pvp grounds like wow or rift for fun. Open World just wouldnt work in FFXIV. At most maybe one island or something for it, maybe.

I could only see something like this working similar to how DC Universe Online handled it - being able to toggle PvP mode on and off (albeit with a cooldown after triggering it on or off to prevent abuse).
[Signature will be done once I figure out what to put in it.]

To repeat, you may well have a had a poor experience in one game, That doesn't mean that it applies to ALL games. I've definitely had extremely enjoyably OW PVP in more than one game. Did that mean that I was never ganked? absolutely not, in fact I've had my fair share of people dancing over my corpse. I've also had my taste of well earned sweet revenge. The fraction of people with intention your described is so small while majority of these self-proclaimed "World PvPers" comes with ill intentions.
They are just player killers.
World PvP only works at instance where Horde attack Alliance capital (vice versa) will lead to some fun fights, most of them, is opposite of what you are describing.
That being said, I would never say that PVP is for everyone, and that's absolutely fine, just as there is a large segment of people who have either no ability or even interest in serious raiding. You do you.

Don't assume I turned down World PvP just because I have poor experience, that is your first and most crucial mistakeTo repeat, you may well have a had a poor experience in one game, That doesn't mean that it applies to ALL games. Myself is active in world PvP until lol War Mode is there.
It doesn't change the fact that people like you and me are minority and most of people self-proclaim to be World PvPers are just bunch of losers.

well, in some games, all's fair since that's what "open world" means.
To prvent that, basically you:
1- travel with friends
2- practise your PVP skills
3- develop good situational awareness
4- Get geared
Pick any combination of the above, depending upon your skills and preferences.
I mean would PVP in open world be so bad if you have to consent to a duel prior to engagement?
Additionally you can have an option to automatically reject duel requests.
I don’t really understand how’d that hamper people if it’s entirely optional.

Have you not experience War Mode from WoW?
What is the point?
I am pretty sure I rolled on a PvP server in TBC but by the last expansion, none of allies are even flag their War Mode on.
It is going to be the same thing here especially when FF14 original audience is PvE.

I’d love to see it, but this community wouldn’t be able to handle it.
