I'm not really angry, and I'm not really looking for compensation. I just want them to fix the 2002 errors. I get why it's happening, I read the explanation, but I gotta say it seems a little wild to me that the system is set up in a way that randomly kicks people who are already in the queue out of the queue when the player limit is reached. I'm on a hard wire high speed internet connection with zero issues anywhere else, and I'm still being booted at least 3-4 times at apparently random intervals while sitting in the queue. This is a >5,000 person queue. I've had friends and FC mates get 2002'd out of line in single digits more than once.
I'm glad they're working on fixes to help this, and I hope they actually do help. At least the capacity management fixes, whatever those are, because I seriously doubt raising the login cap by 3000 people is gonna make much difference when there are more than 5,000 people waiting in line by 4pm on Behemoth alone... and when the 2002 seems to be kicking people out entirely at random regardless of where they are in line. Just seems like a super bizarre system if it's just booting people instead of just preventing new people from joining the queue in the first place. I'm not a programmer, but I mean... I dunno![]()
I don't really care for compensation. All I want is active communication and acknowledgement of the grievances. I'm going to be paying for this game regardless, I love it. It's a big part of my life. The value I get from the game goes far beyond money, so, I couldn't care less about monetization. My rage was quelled when they finally addressed what was currently going on, and then actually made an attempt to fix it. And no, the initial post they made before early access did not address what was happening, before anyone decides to try and chime in and link the post. :> The truth is SE has always operated on really crappy network infrastructure, and a lot of their issue is common problems like queues and getting disconnected are way worse than they should be because of this fact. In other MMOs getting DCed and waiting in queue isn't the biggest deal, because it works correctly. in FFXIV it turns into a big deal because their stuff is always wonky and doesn't work as expected. So when you get DCed it kills your day. When you wait forever in queue only to get booted to the back it kills your day.
Back in 2.0 things were really bad, but every day they were posting on the forums addressing peoples concerns, and making us feel like they heard us. And that went a long way. This time it kinda felt like that wasn't the case.
I'm an ARR Vet so this doesn't surprise me, I lived through ARR and SB horrible launches and it appears EW will go down in the books with those 2 expansion launch experiences, so I expected this, that's why I don't take off work for expansion launches.
But new players and people who just joined during the years of SHB have every right to be upset and SE did drop the ball on this one and I don't blame those players if they quit this game, however I'd tell em to stick around cause this is a great legendary video game.
Me personally I don't care if SE gives me anything in return for a horrible launch, I just wanna play my game I been looking forward to and pre ordered, so all I want is this issue fixed ASAP so I can play my game.
Unpopular opinion for this thread:
None because i am not raging at all. The team is doing whatever they can to fix this issue. Actually using their own servers to help with the queue and now doing a 4 hour maintenance are only two things out of many they did before launch.
I understand you though, having for example only 1-2 hours time for playing.. its just not possible with the queue currently.
But with the bunch of new players coming and endwalker launch, this situation was to be expected. Give it time and it'll normalize.
There are always those that are the "damned if you do and damned if you don't" that like to keep the flames burning. They find posting topics to kindle the flames into a roaring blaze thrilling, especially here. They feel even negative attention is better than no attention, making what it takes question irrelevant.
compensation? nah - I just want the game have stable operation.
FFXIV - 1.0 classic servers (before the meteor) should happen. I think I want it, and I do.
im not angry... i mean, a little frustrated they werent more prepared but- there is only so much a game company can do when things are in short supply bc of a global pandemic
i would like Alisaie's new outfit tho
and Lyse's hair
